when our boss asks out for drinks, our initial reaction would be to accept. and why shouldn't you? its a good day to unwind after work, plus it can pave the way for excellent schmooze time. But sometimes i feeel uncomfortable about going out with my boss maybe if a have some officemates with me. what is the best and polite way to decline?

You know it's really hard to say NO specially to our boss. But maybe we can easily say it if we're invited all alone. It's much better to have someone to accompany with. Safety should always be considered, we don't know any intentions from them, lol! An I thinking that bad? Anyway, can I ask you something personal? Hope you don't mind? May I know the company you're working with?

Try looking really tired / sleepy and telling him that you're completely out and want to go home and rest. Couple it with an apologetic smile, and tell them to have a great time. Its perfectly ok to not want to go along, and you can always make up an excuse that you have some shopping to do/ are expecting someone at home, etc. Just don't feel guilty about it!

when you feel uncomfortable , and you don't want to go out. I think the best way to decline your boss's invite is tell him about your problem directly. you just feel ill, right ? tell him this situation, and he can understand you. don't worry about too much. when you are free and pleasure, you can attend this kind of drink after work, and try to keep good relationship with everyone always. then you only decline once without any problem for your boss.
