Would you eat your own pet?

If you had a rabbit, or a chicken or a duck, a pot belly pig or even a cow, would you be able to have that animal killed so that you can cook it and serve it to you family?

Only the cow. I think that I would become attached to the other animals. If I owned a cow it would be for the sole purpose to eat it.

I don't understand that. I'm not judging you by any means... I would get attached to the cow as well. They have personality, they are sweet. I like their faces. And they are probably a lot less annoying than a yapping dog.

I wouldn't even want to go near a cow. If I had one, my kids or husband would be in charge of it.

I am too soft-hearted to do that. That's probably why I could never have a working farm. I would get WAY too attached to the animals...naming them and so on.

lol, yeah I'm with you on that. I couldn't feed them one day and eat them the next.

as a teenager i had to kill, clean and eat my own pet chickens because my father said it was a good idea for me to know where meat came from. Much as though i can see his point of view, i find it distubing even to this day blessed be

Nope, I know myself well enough to know that I would get attached and attach a personality to the animal and would not be able to kill/eat it! If I don't know the animal in question, as with pork, beef and others that I buy at the market, then I am okay. But if I know the animal, no way can I eat it!

A cow, absolutely. A duck or chicken, probably -- I don't see that I would get incredibly attached to either. I wouldn't eat my dog or cats, I wouldn't have eaten any of my rabbits. And t be honest, I wouldn't own a pot belly pig.

what if the cow really like you and came running as soon as she saw you and followed you around like a puppy dog and licked you when you fed her?

Even if I were desperate enough to have to kill my pet for food, I wouldn't do it myself _

never mind the killing, I couldn't do that either. My dad killed our rabbits, that was traumatic to watch. I couldn't eat the bunnies. It was enough to make me stop eating all meat.

Definitely not. That is just wrong unless you absolutely have nothing else to eat. Otherwise, why would you kill your pet? There's no sense in it. I have problems with people shooting the wild life that are all around our house/garden. It's just senseless to me.
