Running to the door?

Have you ever held the door for someone and they started walking fast or jogging to the door? Why does that person feel like they need to quickly get to the door? Maybe I'm going to change my mind and close the door on them. Has this ever happened to you before. Are you one that runs to the door?

I run to the door sometimes, or at least quicken my pace. It's so nice that someone would actually take the time to hold open a door nowadays that I feel compelled to get there faster so that I am not holding up. I realize it's a matter of seconds, literally, but it's always nice to show that you are hurrying and appreciative of the gesture but also considerate of the time the person is giving to be courteous to me. I see this a lot when people run to the door when I am holding it, and although I tell them it's okay, it's once of those 'back of the mind' things that is like, 'I am holding this door, I wish they would just hurry up' feeling that people can get.

You know I'm sure I have done it myself not realizing it and picked up my pace to the door.

haha - it always makes me smile inside when someone does this! I think it's them trying to be nice back at you for holding the door for them though. It's like - You are being nice to me so I'm not going to waste your time by walking slow.

Yeah that's a good way explaining it. They are being nice back. Even ladies in their high heels are running to the door. I would feel real bad if they trip and fell.
