The bible i read is the New King James Version and The New International Version. Both these bibles version are translated nearest to the original version and much easier to understand. The author simplified the words and sentences so that they will be easily understand by the reader. Previously, i read the KJV bible, but there are words there that for me are not usually spoken now a days, for example, the words, hath, thou, etc...

I have found out that the NIV changes the meaning of the original..but the New King James Version is suppose to be easier to read..and is translated right from the regular KJV..but if you go online and look..you will be shocked to read the NIV is really different then the original..even so much as to call Satan and Jesus the morning star..

Not only NIV, but also all other newer versions. Because of so-called outdated words in KJV, newer versions were published and supposedly are easier to understand. But what most of them do is do the interpretation for the reader so it's much easier to read. If they delete or change something, the reader will never know the difference anyway. For me it's very dangerous because changing one word could change the whole meaning of the verse! BTW, i used NIV before...now i use KJV, and arcaic words never hurt me.

I love the Message version at home but if I'm in church the NIV version. But if someone gave me the KJ version it wouldn't bother me, ok the wording is different but they all mean the same in the end!

yes he does..I like to read some in the old testament..though some of the things are hard to understand..it is amazing how much knowledge there is in the Bible that applies to our lives now..

I read the KJV. I did some research on the web and found that it is the closest to the original. I found that what people said, that it seemed newer and therefore was not original did not make sense. The reason was that if you read something a lot, it wears out faster and they have to write more copies. Also much of the material on the NIV and other Bibles was gotten from a manuscript that had been thrown away in the Vatican. If they threw it away, it must have been for a good reason.

I also read the KJV. =) Anyways to keep the topic light, here's a good joke I've read today: There was this Christian lady that had to do a lot of traveling for her business, so she did a lot of flying. Flying made her nervous, so she always took her Bible along with her to read and it helped relax her. One time, she was sitting next to a man. When he saw her pull out her Bible, he gave a little chuckle and went back to what he was doing. After awhile, he turned to her and asked, "You don't really believe all that stuff in there do you?" The lady replied, "Of course I do. It is the Bible." He said, "Well, what about that guy that was swallowed by that whale?" She replied, "Oh, Jonah. Yes, I believe that, it is in the Bible." He asked, "Well, how do you suppose he survived all that time inside the whale?" The lady said, "Well, I don't really know. I guess when I get to heaven, I will ask him." "What if he isn't in heaven?" the man asked sarcastically. "Then you can ask him." replied the lady. =) hehehe
