as i was born in the countryside, when i was in my childhood,i made up my desicion to get out of the countryside,i'd like to work in the city, and buy an apartment. but now,as the number of the population of the city is becoming larger and larger. The apartment becomes smaller and taller than before. That means our space is smaller.the relationship among people is becoming further and remote.the polution cuased by increasing numbers of cars and factories, the food produced by transfer-genes........i am thinking of being living in the countryside is nice.at least, everyday you wake up in the morning ,you can breathe the fresh air.and the food you eat,you know where they are from and how they grow up...... well, what is your opinions?

Living on the countryside has its benefits... but, I personally grew up in a city, so I'm definitely used to it, and would feel totally alienated if I were to live on the countryside. One big thing you can't do while living on the countryside is simply be in walking-distance or a short bus ride to malls, outlets, or any kind of store to "hang out" with friends. You'd probably have to travel a long way to get to the nearest mall, and, if you were exclusively countryside, that mall probably wouldn't be very big either. I don't know, the countryside feels so barren and desolate for me... not enough happening, too empty.

we used to move a lot, so i've been to both situations. i was born and early raised in the city, then in the province - countryside so you say (it's an island actually- hometown of both my parents), then back to the city, and my teen-age years , back to the islands. since there's no college way back home then, we had to go to the city again for university and work there eventually. but it's always exciting to get home. i think we have the best of both worlds, since it's not so really far away, about 2-3 hours by boat and you'd get to the city. and back. i've worked in the city too and it was exciting for awhile to be in the center of things. you go to the theatre or dine out once in awhile. but now i'm back working in the islands and i think i like it better. the city is pretty crowded - and i get headache all the time from the heat and pollution. besides, you can't really move a lot in the city without money. lot's of pressure there which i think is not suited for lifetime living. in my island, life is more laid back, relaxed. there's practically no nightlife, so less money is spent for extra curriculars. i only need to hoard on dvds and that's entertainment already. i got lifelong friends a stone's throw away, and we chit-chat, eat together by sea or enjoy the moonlit night where it's never been brighter, and the air fresher. if we want to go to the city, anytime we'd go, for business, or to unwind, or change of scenery - it's pretty cool. to be just in the city once or twice a month, and then back home where it's really a home that you can call to. my city friends are pretty envious that i've got a province to come home to, and i think i've always liked that idea.

I think it all depends on what type of countryside or what city you move into. I know that New York can be one of the most fashionable and business-oriented places to live, but a lot of the people there are down right rude. Then there's Salt Lake City here in Utah. The people are really friendly and it's a great working atmosphere. I think countrysides are different wherever you go too. Myself? I prefer to live near a big city, out in the countryside. ;)

I prefer the countryside to be honest. I grew up in a bigger city when I was growing up and I prefer to be away from big crowds to be honest.

I was born and brought up on the country side but right now am settled in the city, i really miss those fresh air, peacful environment and the oneness among each other. At nights i wonder why people don't sleep and work, as it makes a lot of pollution of every kind. I like the quite environment in the country sides so, am planning to go back if i get a chance. The people there are more friendlier as less people are there so more or less everybody is like a part of a big family.

Hi, yes you are so right in your saying this that anytime of the day, the countryside always smells so fresh and nice. If i were given a chance i too would love to shift to such a place and have my own little place and stay put there. Yes, the big cities now are too over crowded and getting too populated and vast with too much of pollution of all kinds too, but i guess despite this, the common man, just in order to make some money and depending on how much they want to make, never move out of the cities. They have their lives, some love the fast life with the loud noises etc, where as there are others who prefer the silence etc, so over all it all depends on what each one of us prefer doing, do we want the city and its fast life or the countryside. Each one to his or her own. :)

Lots to do in big cities. Very dynamic places. But they're insane. Too many rude, shallow people trying to one-up each other. No thanks. I'll take the bucolic cottage instead. The day I hit retirement.

Well my ultimate dream is, BUILD A BUSINESS LOCATED IN THE CITY, AND SETTLE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE OR HAVE A RANCH OR SOMETHING ;) that's my dream, it has to be BIG right? In this way, you can have bought w/c is more exciting! coz sometimes i enjoy the noise of the City.... and sometimes i want the quiet and slow life in the countryside ;) I guess the important thing is that you're happy with your life, and location doesn't have to do with it, coz happiness comes from within. Cheers!

i thought before that i wanted to live in a big city, where people are busy everywhere and you almost did not know who your neighbors are but now i am starting to miss the country side where you had this simple life, where you knew almost everyone and could enjoy the slow pace of life. where you can still actually enjoy nature at its best and stare at the moon during the night to ponder everything that happened during the day.

I was raised in a rural community, and spent most my life in the country. I have visited big cities, and no matter how horrible things get AT HOME they could be MUCH BIGGER in the city. In the small community you have friends and family out of complete strangers. In the city you have no one. I could not live with that kind of isolation.

Im a true blue city dweller! But im fond of visiting cold rural places for a day or two to freshen up. I like the city better because of im fond of going to malls and dining out. Sometimes when i want to feel nature and i don't have time to travel i just go to our front lawn, it has a touch of nature lots of trees and flowers giving a peace of mind and relaxation. I never see myself settling in rural places.=)

yes i myself love the countryside but only as a resting place as in its the best place to spend when you need vacation. but i prefer were i am now, ithe big city. i am born here and it's were iwas cultured. the urban place is full of work and opportunity the reasons why they only hate it is that it is were pollution also reside, crimes are high and you need money to rent a place to live in. this is where the rural place comes into an option. but i have a job here in the city, its what matter most to me. although its a stressful job, that i want to take vacations and the best place is the countryside.
