Every now and then a movie comes along that has a melody from a bygone era that just grabs you and won't let go. A couple of examples are a song I associate with the movie "Somewhere In Time," and "Casablanca." Do you have a favorite haunting melody from a movie you've seen?

My fav movie melody is from Once Upon A Time In The West, it's very powerful & it send a chill down my spine every time I hear it. But when it comes in during the movie it is incredible, so incredible I'll share it with you.... http://youtube.com/watch?v=DpVdMDnTNmg It's quite a disturbing scene but very powerful, classic Sergio Leoni, the music is by Ennio Morriconi :)

It's a pleasure, I only recently rediscovered it, I was in a local shop & saw it as a collectors edition on DVD so bought it & loved it. It's strange because I'm not usually a lover of Westerns, but that piece of music is spectacular. Have you ever seen the interview with Henry Fonda about that scene?

No, Jay, I've not seen the interview that I can remember. Henry Fonda was reallya great actor. I am a fanatic when it comes to westerns. I love all of the "Spaghetti" westerns.

" Somewhere In Time"s score was written by my all time favorite movie composer, John Barry. He wrote some of the famous James Bond themes and some of the best movie scores. One of my favorites that he wrote is Out Of Africa. But also wrote Goldfinger, Moonraker,You Only Live Twice,Until September and Body Heat.Another great is John Williams. He wrote the music in Schindler's List,Jaws, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.Another great is The Untouchables.

I really love that score, sarah. I was aware that John Williams did the score for those movies; now I also know who did the scores for some other great movies-thanks to you.

hi there! ;0 i would have to say that the eeriest movie melodies that i have heard are melodies from the opening song of the "twilight zone" and the ring tone in the movie "one missed call". by the way, one missed call is an asian horror film and it is really horrifying. just like the ring. you should try watching it. thank you and good day! :)

Thank you for the response, jlara. I loved The Ring. Watched it over and over. I've never seen the second one though.

I think Somewhere over the Rainbow is my favorite. I loved the movie and the song. And that song from Closer. I love that one.
