Many people do not feel the same way about a mobile home as they do about a stick-made home....what if it is a double wide?? Does that make a difference in the way that you view this type of dwelling?

I do, sort of. It can be a home, but it's not the same as a house. But that's probably because I'm in the home insurance business and we have distinctions. There are houses that are frame, brick, block, etc. There are manufactured houses. And then there are mobile homes that are a class of their own: single wide, double wide, and even multi wide. But personally, I love mobile homes and would not mind living in one at all. In fact, I hope to get one sometime in the near future.

I always say it's not the bricks, sticks or plaster that makes a home it's the people inside. You could be in a beautiful mansion and still be unhappy and want more, a home is what you make it, it's a dwelling, even a caravan or a tent can be a home, after all don't eskimos call their ice dwelling home? A home is your castle and yes a mobile home is a house. Some people can be fanatic about words and meanings etc, it only matters to the person themselves as to whether they call their dwelling a home or not.

Birds live on trees. Every creature lives somewhere and that is their homes. The Israelites lived in tents in the wilderness for 40 years and the tents were their houses. Many of the squatters here in the Philippines live in patched whatever to give them shed and those are considered their houses. A mobile home is very good enough to stay in. The Philippines is known for the nipa hut - a very small house made of nipa. The values of the person is not so much affected by the type of dwelling he has. There are many honest people here in the Philippines who are poor.

I very definitely consider a mobile home a house. It is how it is created, decorated and felt about. It can be as exciting and beautiful as an stick house. Just depends on the person who views it. sunnywaters

I really like stick-made home, i am the kind of people you told about. I do like having a mobile home just for extra, enjoying a few nights in that and carry with me on travelling, but the Rv can serve this in the other way too. But for a permanent house, i will not go for a mobile home.

I used to live in a double wide and I didn't feel any strange. The only thing is they are higher than regular homes but you can put them in cement if you want.

I think I would consider a mobile home is a house/home. I have been in a double and triple wide and they are very nice and looks expensive yeah I would call it a home. I don't live in one but all most got one and it had a fireplace. The inside looks like a home but outside it depends on what you want it to look like alot of them looks like a house and now you can't tell them from a house to a double wide.

The type of house matters much less than the type of HOME. Sure, I'd love a big stick built house that I could be sure my grandchildren and great grandchildren could someday come vist but if all I ever get is a trailer, over flowing with family and love, then that is all I'll ever need. Doublewides do seem more house-like to me. But mostly that's just because of their outward appearance and usual lay out. It doesn't make any difference in whether it feels more home-like. I have sisters who live in HUGE fancy houses. I used to live in a trailer and most likely will be again very soon. They have been and will be judgemental. I don't care. Because I know that my home, no matter how small, will have something that their's will never have...love, understanding, and acceptance.

A home is a home. I do think built homes are more durable, a better investment and definately the way to go. Trailers tend to be quickly and cheaply built, their not made to last and they are generally the same layout all the time. Not to mention they seem to be tornado magnets lol. I have lived in trailers before and plan never to go back to one. I like our apartment and plan to stay put. AT PEACE WITHIN

Well to tell you the truth,I grew up in a "stick" made home and always wanted to live in a trailer, lol. I don't think it matters what the house is made of as long as there is love in the home. My hubby is a carpenter and he builds condo's and houses for a living but me and him have lived in 2 trailers for the last 6 years and i wouldn't want it any other way.

Some people are just too stuck on the things in life and their monetary value and not what actually matters! A mobile home is a house and a home if the people that live in it make it that way. I lived in a trailer park in a trailer - or I could be pretty about it and say mobile home in a mobile housing community - whatever - for like four years. It was cheap, decent, all ours to do with as we pleased basically, and even though we had a few stereotypical neighbors they at least made the days interesting. Many people still look down on double wides as well - don't let them fool you! It is all basedon what you make of it. Personally, It is far more affordable in many ways than stick and brick houses are and like I said, you tend to end up with pretty cool neighbors! Much better than apartment living as well!
