My husband harvested two heads of romaine lettuce from our garden this morning. As he was tearing leaves off he found yellow jackets; four in one head and six in the other. I have done an internet search and can't find anything about this! Has anyone ever heard of this before and what would cause it?

Funny thing, I was just outside watering and noticed a yellow jacket hanging in one of our shrubs. I noticed some others on one of my other plants as well. I don't know what they want?

A friend of mine told me they are looking for water. I guess it means we have to be very careful when dealing with plants at the end of summer, to avoid being stung.

That make sense, it is so hot where I live so that explains why there are so many. Happy gardening! How is the weather where you are? It is in the 100's here in Clovis. ca. God Bless

That is strange, I do see bees in flowers so I guess the Vegetable is like a flower. I half to watch out for the Yellow Jackets!
