I've had problems losing weight. What's the best advice you can offer me? I've tried the traditional "eat right, exercise" thing. It's never worked for me. The only method of weight loss that I've had any success with is not eating for four or five days, eating one day, and repeating the process again. I lost fifty or so pounds since starting that, but I've been told time and time again that that's not a good way to go about it. I just haven't had success in anything else. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Please please please don't starve yourself. It will not leave you feeling at all good at yourself. I have two suggestions that you could try. One is here: www.squidoo.com/healthyeatingtip and another is www.freeacnediet.com ...this website says its for acne but the principles are really effective..I will summarise for you.. Basicallyl with Wai's diet - it is about keeping your blood sugar balanced and eating right - it is basically a raw food diet. You eat fruits and fats a lot. Fruit for QUICK energy and then once you have eaten the fruit you eat a fattening food (fattening in the sense its slow releasing..it will NOT make you fat) like avocado or nuts. But balancing it you level out your sugar levels. You can eat as much as you require..but you have to learn to listen to your body. Which she also discusses on there - there is also a forum which gives advice too. It might be a little extreme for you but it has some good ideas in my book and I spent several days on it and really it is down to listening to your body - whether you are craving junk foods (which actually including cooked foods) or whether you need energy. Please don't starve yourself..its not fair on you.

I'll agree. I've been trying my best to eat regularly and not starve myself. I'll try some of the dieting tips you provided, but I've just been having a lot of problems keeping the weight off that I'd already lost. Normally, I have no problem staying at a semi-constant weight. Right now, however, for some reason, I'm gaining weight.

I'm hoping that I have the self-control that I need to lose weight. My problem is that sometimes I don't see results fast enough so I just stop eating food altogether. That is unhealthy for my body, so I would like to stop doing that. Hopefully, you will lose a lot of weight as well. I wish you the best of luck.

A positive attitude is very important for successful weight loss and weight management. To lose weight permanently, you must make a commitment to gradually adopt a healthier way of life. You can control your weight. To lose weight, you must eat fewer calories or burn up more calories than you need. The best way to lose weight is to do both. Following a very low calorie diet can leave you feeling deprived and can increase the temptation to binge. Often, very low calorie diets make you lose muscle instead of fat. You are then left with a body that jiggles instead of one that is smooth and toned. Exercise helps you keep the muscles and lose the fat.
