Or, I will get a headache if I have to pick them up. I'm tired, or I'm hungry..... I can't I might fall down..... I don't think so....... I don't feel good!.... My arms hurt!.... You kidding me!.... Will you help me?.... Why do I always have to pick them up?..... You played with them too!.... But I don't know how!.... I don't want too!.... Will you do it for me?.... Do any of these sound familiar? My grandson's (5 and 3) come up with the funniest reasons for not wanting to pick up their toys. Please share all your children/grandchildrens excuses for not wanting to pick up their toys.

Well, I've heard a good many of those reasons, but not pee my pants! The one that is quite regular is 'you played with them too' to which I pick up the one or two things I actually did play with, toss them in the basket and tell him I've done my bit! One other thing that works is I tell him that if the toys aren't off the carpet, I'll vaccuum them up, and that will be last he'll see of them.

It's a bit of a worry when you just about need a degree in psychology to outsmart a kid. My son also has a smart answer for nearly everything!

LOL..If I don't let him do something right away, he will say, "you're not my best friend anymore." I am like, "okay, but I'll be here if you need me."

They would tell me that the toys won't fit in the vacuum. They always have the last word too! The pee my pants made me laugh so hard, I almost peed mine...LOL...Before the youngest (the one in my avatar) was potty trained, we were upstairs taking a nap, well he woke alittle before me and was asking to go downstairs and I told him he had to wait a few more minutes...Well, he kept bugging me and of course only 5 minutes had passed...(he thought it was forever) He says to me, "If you don't let me go downstairs I will pee my diaper." I said, "you go right ahead honey, that is what it is for." I will change you when and if we get down those stairs... He never said another word....LOL

feona i guarantee you only have to do this once. show just how funny you can be, grab a big garbage bag and sing songs all the while fill up the toys he finds every excuse under the sun as to why not to pick them up. promptly take grandson & bag of toys to the big rubbish bin and put them in (he may have to help you) when he asks for them back say every excuse you have heard as to why you won't do it.

This is so funny. I love it and it is worth a try...I tell them that if they don't pick them up, then when they come back to gramas they will be sitting on the couch and not be able to play with any toys the whole time they are here. They jumped up and said, "I don't want to sit on the couch." Those toys were picked up right away....LOL.. I like your advice very much and I will use it the next time we have to go through this...I am sure I will only have to do it one time!

trust me if they try it again after that one time you just mention to them that u are going to get a garbage bag and they pick up toys quick smart. or even better tell them to go and get the garbage bag and that gets thru to them quick smart as well.

kids are just amazing now a days, the way they reason out is just something else. when my grandaughter was around it was our daily routine that after she plays with her toys she picks them up and put them in the basket. for 2 days she was doing it but on the third day she went up to me and said "grandma i think it's not fair that i have to do all the picking up, it's child labor, and it's bad" when i heard this my eyes almost popped out, where did she get those words, she was only 3 going on 4. and when she told me those words her hands were on her chest as if she was giving me a lecture and to make me realize that what i asked her to do is not good. kids!!!!!!!!!!amazing........

well one thing my little bumble bee said was the other day i asked him to pick up all the toys so that mommy can vaccum and he said mommy i cant do it,so i said why,and he told me his arm hurts and too heavy, mommy do.i looked at him and i just had to turn my head and laugh because of the way he said it,so he finally got all the toys picked up and i started to vaccum and there was one toy left on the floor so i asked him can you please pick that up for mommy so i dont vaccum it up,and he said no mommy the vaccum will pick it up and put it away,i was laughing so hard, where does he get these sayings from,it makes you wonder sometimes, but its so cute.take care.pattie

My kids never tried the "pee my pants" thing, but they sure tried all the rest of them. My daughter would always say "there's no room for them", and the shelves were completely bare because all the toys were on the stinkin' floor! At the time it wasn't so funny...it was downright aggravating. But now, looking back, it brings a laugh....maybe two. LOL

Hello Feona1962, They are so cute *smiles* That's why I love kids so so much *big hug* It seems that they have 1001 excuses and reasons for not doing what they don't want to do. My one year old baby son doesn't speak yet. He just mumble and sometimes saying something in his baby language.

iam sameer and iam 18 years old in my point of view picking up the children is the joy enjoyed by the parents , if the parents love their children they will definetly pick up their children and show them currect way to which they have to walk in the future ,i think that parents have to treet their children with heartly and likely
