When your computer monitor is not in use, do you put it off? I have the habit of putting of my computer's monitor when not in use for about 10 or more minutes. This way, i can save energy. What about you? do you put it off when not in use?

If it is in the power saver mode I believe we do save power - so I don't switch it off but it goes blank.

I never used to turn it off when I would walk away, but lately I have been getting myself into the habit. Once in a while I still forget to turn it off if I am only leaving it alone for a short while, but I do remember at least most of the time. I always turn it off when I am leaving for a long period of time.

here in the office, If I have to be away for over 15 minutes I turn it off. In our home I turn it off always when I have to leave,a small amount of energy save is still saving and it could mean a lot when piled up.

Actually, I have developed some bad habits where that is concerned. Where I live, the utilities are included in the rent. So, I am not use to conserving energy any more. But, I will have to when I move.

No, I just let it go into standby mode which with the true flatscreen LCD monitor I have saves enough energy, especially compared to the computer itself.

If I am going to be away from my computer for more than half and hour I put it in hibernate that way it closes everything down for low energy but when I open it again later is comes right back to all programs I had been using previously
