Is being fat means healthy for you?

Hello! Where I live, some people call "people with some extra pounds" "healthy". I think that both, people with some extra pounds & lean people can be healthy. Health is not related to body size, it depends on condition of their health (which comes from inside). What do you think about this?

hey indiavani!Being fat doesn't mean healthy to me but being just the right weight does=) I think lean people can be healthy but some are not. Some lean people may have problems with their health,eg high cholesterol. I understand healthy is not related to body size and that a little extra weight is okay as long as it's not obese.Obesity leads to a lot of health complications.Hope this helps!

yea, you're right. but did you know that being fat are sometimes a symptoms of sickness. Their are illnesses that fatness is the symptoms. So fat people should actually be careful of their health, is it really healthy or a symptom?

i dont' think health is connected with weight. some fat people are healthy, but some are not. some tinner people are healthy, but some are not. i think health is connect with diet and exercise. if you pay more attention to your diet, then you will be healthy. if you do some exercises, then you will be healthie.

you should be really healthy, few extra pounds are ok in terms of health conditions. but if having extra pounds of fat means not able to do basic tasks without unreasonably high effort, that means you need to lose some for you to be able to do tasks with a reasonable effort

I think the healthyness of our body is depends upon our BMI(Bady Mass Index). In BMI your all body details such as height, weight according to heigth etc.. are parameteres are there.and according to these parameters our BMI will be calculated. If BMI of our body is central then you become healthy and if BMI is more or less then it is unhealthy.

I wanna live where you do. ;) I think as long as a person isn't grossly obese then they can have a few extra pounds and be healthy. I'm not sure where the line for an unhealthy weight would be.
