Have you ever, when you are going about your day, done something, and a saying goes through your mind. It could be something your parents would say or even grandparents say to a certain situation. If so will you please share them with me and the rest of the readers. I love to collect them, because sometimes they can explain something I can not. One of my favorite is "when the pupal is ready the teacher will appear"

My mothers saying was always -- don't worry dear I have enough faith for the both of us. -- Make enough food to feed an army companies a comin! -- feed a stranger today and have a friend for a life time -- Plant a seed and watch it grow - climb the tree and watch below - the things you see are gods way of love - now you see what he sees above ( we put this on her head stone when she passed away because she carried this poem in her purse for 23 years). My Fathers saying were -- If you work really hard you have earned a living --- spend your money wisely as there is always something else to buy --- Taking breaks is a mans way of saying I'm lazy --- when I pass on I will see greener pastures --- A smile warms a cold mans heart - a hug will warm a cold mans body --- take me to a place I have never seen - for heaven will be the last place I will see --- hunting and fishing I do best - I'll do these things until I'm put to rest --- god must be in good spirits today - he opened up the color here in May --- the grass maybe greener on the other side - but I'm not willing to mow all of it ( I loved that saying ) hugs

bambie your parents seem to have been strong in their faith. I love your fathers saying about the grass being greener on the other side of the fence.

MY dad use to tell us all the time "Fools names and fools faces always show in public places." This is so true. I find it becoming more and more true with the internet and how people have no shame these days. I feel sometimes people are getting so dumb.

I have to agree with you father and his wisdom the story about can't and you mom is so sad, and a good reminder that we shouldn't "do " for others if they are able to "do" for themselves.

My dad use to say " Can't never did anything" meaning if you do not try then do nothing. I find that true with a lot of people. MY mom uses Can't all the time and now she is in a nursing home because she "couldn't do anything for herself" and I am not healthy enough to take care of her anymore. Mom is so lazy she expects everyone to wait on her hand and foot.

My mother had a few sayings - one of them being "A stitch in time saves 9" - meaning if something needs doing, see to it NOW before things get worse. Also "You can lead a horse to the trough, but you can't make him drink" - meaning you can help and advise someone, but ultimately, the final decision is theirs. She had many more, but I can't bring them to mind at the moment.

The day when I attended school,I have already suffered so many obstructions,in my primary school I was so young to realize my weekness of course I wasn't the student loved by so many other teachers,b/c the teachers always like the student who is really clever and diligent. As time went by ,I realized that study is really essentail to my future job-huntings,just as my father said how can u find a well-paid job without a well-educated background?this is the time that I began to thought about my future, and I wanna to went to a good unversity. So,I have to change my rountine live to make a great difference in my middle school,However the things didn't went smoothly so many problems awaited for me. Just at this time a friend's words that enlightened me ,that is "My goal is to be a failure,If I reach my goal ,I will fell successful and if I don't reach my goal,I will feel successful too!"This is the sentence that my friend gave me,and just these words that accompany me no matter what difficulties I have confronted with.;-)

Good morning I have one to add to yours and it is equally true"What ever you want, wants you", so be cautious about wanting to be a failure, because if it is the lead goal, you will attain it, but you are what you really believe, and success is the only thing you have ever had, now that one you might need to think about but it is the most true. Take care and thanks Robin

Hello there. One saying I like alot is 'Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall' This saying really helps me to persevere and work hard towards my goals. Another saying I like is 'The only thing that can see us through hard times is Faith. Faith is seeing the invisible and believing it to be possible' It reminds me to have Faith in our Creator and to remain faithful at all times. =D

Hi Robin, my mother loves to learn something new every day and when she does she'll say "My day wasn't a total loss for I learned something new." Another one is "True love never runs smooth." Another is "A happy pet is a loved pet." She had quite a few of them but those are the ones that pop up in my head at the moment.

Yes I agree. I especially love the one about learning something new every day. She's a wise woman for sure, I just wish I could get along with her all the time rather than some of the time. Right now things are really good.

I have 2 sayings if you will that I live by rigorously every day of life for the past 16 years. They're from A.A. The first is One Day At A Time. Meaning to live just one day at a time as tomorrow isn't here yet and when it does come it will be today. I don't think about tomorrow as I will deal with that day when it arrives to make my living lifes problems easier. The other is an anagram actually, K.I.S.S. Means Keep It Simple Stupid. Meaning not to let anything get complicated as it will cause me to think/worry too much. If I keep it simple I can make it another day sober and clean. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have to agree those are real good ones to live by. I also wonder if the live one day at a time, also means that yesterday is not to be brought forward as well. Sort of fits with my "that was then and this is now" And I prefer to live in the now Thanks Bob

Things in life are not going to be all the more easy all the time ... people are not always as they seem to be . .. friendship is being weighed on your financial standing - these are but a few reflections that are being encountered in everyday life .

i read in kerygma magazne, the writer shared a quote that oprah said in her show, "want what you have and you always have what you want" , i also read "it's not reality that matters, it's perception that truly matters that will carry into reality"
