i like desperate housewives too and i like teri hatcher. that's why i was really disappointed about this "racial slur". surely they have smart writers and directors and its sad that they schtoopidly made this offensive mistake. and im with all the filipinos, doctors, nurses, senators and the common people, in demanding for a public apology. the producers have issued a public apology but i think they have to delete that part where the offensive comment has been made.

apologetic person -
the timing of an apology is also important as having to face an apology
Desperate Housewife is a nice sitcom and I have watch several of its good episodes. what scenes did happen there and what offensive words did the script say about it?I have not watch the video yet. but I have heard this from the news last night. It was all over the news. I have no idea yet of the offensive part of the scene. I am a filipino and if this scene is against us then I think the scene should not be included. but I think the producer or the director would cut this scene. I hope this could be resolve then.

I am a loyal fan of the show and I also like Teri Hatcher. Just so sad that with only those few words the show's image so as hers was stained upon the eyes of the Filipino community and to the others who believe it was a racist comment. Being a Filipino, I was also hurt. According to the show's producer and ABC management that their intention is not to jeopardize the Philippine med community but still it insulted us because it wasn't true. I hope next time writers of shows should be very careful with their words and actress/actor should say NO if he/she thinks that the line will hurt a group of people.

As a Filipino, I was hurt! The line uttered by Teri Hatcher could have been scrapped off from the script to avoid racism issue. Well, the damage has been done. We can learn from this episode though most of us are not use to receive negative comments, we can improve our health care system. Let's prove to them that we have the best doctors in town!

I told this to someone else who posted a similar discussion earlier. If someone lives in their country and becomes a scientist or a cook or some other sort of career... and then comes to the United States to become an American Citizen, any credentials they earned in their country are invalid in this country. I'm pretty sure that that was what the statement Teri Hatchers character made was implying. That if this doctor had earned her diploma's in the Philippines, then they were not Valid in the U.S...meaning that her opinion (early menopause) was not valid.. I mean it can't be valid...who wants to go through that early! JOKE. The philippins is not the only country this works for. It's just one of the things with becoming an American Citizen, who you were in your country, unfortunately or fortunately, isn't who you will be in this country.
