...Does any one CROP WALK? How long have you been involved with CWS? Are there any people in leadership rolls out there?
...Our 10th annual walk is this Sunday. I have been involved 9 out of the 10 years we have had one in my city. It is such a good feeling to be a part of it.
...For those of you who do not know what it is, it is a solidarity walk. We walk because over two thirds of the worlds population walk an average of 10K (6 miles) everyday, 364/7, for their food and water. We walk to raise money for Church World Services and our own community. CWS uses these monies to fund disaster relief, water projects, housing projects, education projects and many other services.
...25% of what we raise stays in our community. My community has six soup kitchens, plus there are several churches that provide meals for homeless.

I went to my first Crop Walk today. I only made $35 (my goal was $50), but I only decided to do it four days ago. My goal for next year (I'm definately doing it again)is to raise $100, so in addition to helping folks I'll get a free t-shirt.

...It is wonderful you have joined your community's walk. Any amonut of money is better than none, as every little bit adds up. I collected change when I was cashiering and over a week it added up to $275!
...Did you register on line and www,churchworldservices.org? I put all of my walkers in when I registered. Our walk brought in almost $2K in on-line donations, alone.
...We give our walkers their envelopes about a month before the walk and allow them to collect for another month before they have to turn them in. We average about $15K per walk. In the past ten years, just our walk, has raised enough money to pay for the clean water/well digging work going on in Africa. Knowing our money went to help people all over the world is a big reward.
...Next year set your goal a bit higher, make it $150. Then you will get a t-shirt and a walker's pin. Bless you for taking part in this opportunity to help Christ Reach Our People (CROP).
