Have you ever had them? I remember when we were kids and stayed at my Grandma's house. On Friday nights, we'd always have TV dinners. She'd set up the TV trays, and we would watch Three's Company (or was it Love Boat?) while eating those meals. Our favorite was the Fried Chicken Dinners, but the turkey ones came a close second. The variety has grown over the years, but they are still what I remember. They can be cooked in the microwave, which makes it better than ever. (not quality, but speed!) my daughter and I are are going to have the turkey dinners today for lunch. She loves the peas and potatoes. (well, so do I!) There's a little bit more healthy choices than in a can of Spaghetti O's or a box of Mac and Cheese. Anyway, have you had TV dinners? Any favorite variety? Best dessert you've had in one?

We used to eat tv dinners about once a week when I was a kid. I loved the fried chicken one. We very rarely ever buy them now unless we need something really fast.

I don't usually buy one for everyone, just my youngest and myself as we're the only ones home during the day. I confess, I do a lot of Hamburger Helper meals on those nights when dinner just can't get ready soon enough--(everyone is flying out the door.) I suppose the only healthy thing I do to that is add a package of frozen vegetables to it to stretch it out a little further. :)

creematee those Hamburger helper meals are also loaded with sodium. I make a lot of Rice-A-Roni meals with fresh veggies and some meat ever so often added. tasty and versatile without all the sodium and or calories. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I used to eat the a lot as a child as well in the 60's. Since my dads health issues I am on a low sodium (salt) diet. Those TV dinners have the equivalent of a days full sodium intake in the actually. So no more TV dinners here for me. Those things as well as a lot of regular lunch meat and soups have such a high content of sodium in them. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I agree that the sodium level in these meals is out of this world. We don't eat them often (OK, maybe once a week.) I do like the fact there are veggies included and my kids always eat them. Soups at our house are usually homemade. Tonight is Chicken Noodle. Come on over, and I'll save you a bowl. :)

I haven't had a tv dinner since I was a kid and they were only rare treats then. My favorite items were turkey and gravy, peas and pearl onions, and for dessert, apple cobbler.

Yup, they were treats for us, too. ONLY at gramma's house did we have them. I don't ever remember my mom cooking a TV dinner. She always made Hamburger Helper. :)

Oh yes! I remember having those as a kid and an adult. I don't eat them anymore because they bother my stomach. They are too heavy for me now. My favorite was turkey and mashed potatoes.

It's too bad that they bother you now. I KNOW I shouldn't be eating them, but I do. Thanks seabeauty! :)

I've had them, but more when I was in my 20's and didn't feel like cooking. I watched the same shows as you- Three's Company and Love Boat- but not with a TV dinner. But even to this day I enjoy a Lean Cuisine once in a while. Or those Marie Callander TV dinners- now those are GOOD! Stouffer's makes some decent ones too.Best desserts? Anything warm and choclately or warm and appley!

Oh, you made me hungry. I do love those Lean Cuisine meals. They are pretty tastey, too. :) I agree on the desserts. I always loved the apple desserts in the Swanson meals. I don't think they make them anymore, though. :( Oh well.

Once in a while I'll eat them but not very often. I do like the turkey ones and the best dessert I've had is the brownie! I do buy them for my granddaughter though...the kids ones and it is filled with the stuff she likes to eat.

I am sure you GD thinks they are a real treat! My kids love the Kid's Cuisine ones, too, (with the little penquin on the package.) Granted not the healthiest of meals, but like you said, they eat it, and they even eat the veggies in it. :)
