People call me poor, and act like they all have cable.

Poor is not being able to feed and house your family, hon. Cable is a luxury. We have cable and I know it would be the first thing to go in order to meet the bills if it came down to it. I could live without it, tearfully of course, but if my kid needs to eat, he'd get over the loss of it. People are often ignorant of the needs of others when they make stupid comments like you are poor because you can't afford cable. Then how about they get you that better paying job so you can, or shut their mouths? It's a personal choice too of whether or not to get it. So, don't worry about them. Take care of yourself and your family first, worry about the rest later. Hope that helps. Good luck to you! :)

No, I wouldn't consider you poor just because you can't afford cable. Poor is when you can't afford the basic living needs, like food and housing, for your family without assistance (such as welfare). Not everyone has cable. For some, it's a choice, for others, it's an affordability issue. Don't worry about what other people say.

I have neighbors with a 6 figure income...before the decimal place who do not have cable and I have friends who do not have cable. You may be poor, but it is often a choice not to have it.

Hi and god evening. I live in a rented apartment. We have cable served by the landlord. However, It is not channels with movies, music and so forth. Recently I was offered a better broadband from my supplier, they also offered me free digital TV for 12 month. And I will tell you If this was not FREE I would never have got it. I can not afford it. Or, it is better to say, I do not make the chose to have one if I did not get it fro FREE or from my landlord.
