Co-dependent Ferts

My husband and I adopted two ferrets and we were told up front that they had to go together because they are dependant on each other...we didn't realize how true this was until the other day when we had company and we only brought one of them into the living room and left the other in our bed room (sorry, their bedroom now!) and the one in the bed room started freaking out and trying to dig out from under our door and the one in the living room just layed down like someone removed his spirit. We didn't get their back story about their previous situation but I am guessing it must have been sad. This was the first time we had ever physically seperated them...any other time they are in the same room or we leave the door open so that the other can follow us. Has anyone else ever purchased or adopted fertz that act this way?

I had a ferret like that. I got him from a lady who mistreated him. He had a mate but she passed. He was such a skinny thing and would just sleep all day. Well one day a friend of ours asked if we would take there ferret for the weekend while they went out of town. I thought it would be a good idea and mine would have a friend. Everything went well and they played and slept together. But when Buddy had to go home nitro stopped eating, drinking and had the squirts. Poor baby. I didnt know what was wrong. Then it dawned on me he missed hid Buddy Buddy! LOL. So I called the lady and told her what was going on. I asked if I could take him to her house and see if that helps. Well Ill be as soon as nitro saw buddy his whole demenar changed. He was playing and eating like nothing happened! So now he lives there. I cant afford another ferret right now. He has gained weight and is doing great!! They are social animals and if raised with another they always need another!
