Well I like to see an animal as I always name them something to do with their looks but having not seen your dog how about Mr.D ... D for dog hahahah

Look at your pet and say call it by first name that comes to mind; if it responds positively, you've got it. If nothing come to mind, pup will do until you find just the right fit.

you did not specify what kind of dog it was but i always liked the name scrappy if i had a dog i would name him scrappy

How about Duke? I like that name for a lab. I knew a guy many years ago, that had a lab by the name of Whiskey. Or you can even go the logical route, and call him Blackie. We had a female one years ago, and we named her Lady.

I had a black lab and I named him Pepper.That was one of my best dogs.So good luck in naming your dog.

I use many methods for naming my pets.. Perhaps a name that is like his personality. Sit down with him, clear your mind, look into his eyes and ask him, 'what do you want your name to be?', then use what comes to your mind. Somtime when he is lying down, go to where he is not facing you and softly call to him using several names, when he looks up and around to you, use that one. What does he look like? Is he Scruffy? Is he Happy? Is he Dopey? Use a name you like from literature or mythology (one of my favorites). Other good dog names: King, Wolfgang, Max(imillion), Tramp, Scout, Rex. I wish you could have posted a picture, it might have helped me come up with something specific.

What do you love best about him? what kind of personality does he have? find that trait, and name him something that will remind you of that. My family once had a dog that ate bottle caps a dumb thing to do, and so her name became Zero because she really wasn't the smartest dog. good luck
