I received this in an email, and it has really made me think. I'm so, SO lucky to have the friends and family that I have! Also, my hundreds of discussions on MyLot have helped me to realize that these feelings have no boundaries. I have complained, comforted and supported, and have received the same in return. My world is becoming larger, but friendlier as well. My 'family' circles the globe, and I am grateful for every one of you! ******************************************************* To realize the value of a sister: Ask someone who doesn't have one. To realize the value of ten years: Ask a newly divorced couple. To realize the value of four years: Ask a graduate. To realize the value of one year: Ask a student who has failed a final exam. To realize the value of nine months: Ask a mother who gave birth to a stillborn. To realize the value of one month: Ask a mother who has given birth to premature baby. To realize the value of one week: Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper. To realize the value of one minute: Ask a person who has missed a train, bus or plane. To realize the value of one second: Ask a person who has survived an accident. Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have. You will treasure it even more when you can share it with someone special, and realize the value of a friend or family member. Peace, love and prosperity to all! Remember . . . Hold on tight to the ones you Love.

Hello alamode...sounds like things are well with you and that is good to hear. Posts like this give all of us reason to pause and express our appreciation for blessings large and small it is lovely of you to pass it on. My mother raised me with an attitude of gratitude and the importance of graciousness and respect towards all people in every walk of life. It is just on of her great legacies to me and one that continually enriches my quality of life on every level. Yes, when we have friends and family who we love and love us back it makes our experiences sweet during the good times and rough patches. This poem is particularly significant as we are reminded to give thanks to all the courageous freedom fighters past and present who help us enjoy the lives we have. Warm regards, Raia

With my cousin and brother-in-law both in remission from their cancer, with my friend and my sisters finally finding relief from their chronic pain, with my developing relationship with my wonderful new doctor... things have taken a definite turn for the better. While I realize that they are tenuous, these facts flooded in on me while I was answering a really nice discussion here. I put myself back in the place I was six months ago and could see more clearly what a wonderful life I have right now. I hope I will never take these kinds of things for granted again.

Thanks for reminding us all about the 'values'. We do need these reminders from time to time.Sometimes our 'Ego' comes in the way and other times we are too busy to appreciate friends, loved ones and every thing else. We do take things for granted and we forget how frigile the life is. I have never had too many friends. But the friends I have had are for life.I have realized that the friends keep me sane. One of my best friend is in the process of moving and couple of them have alredy moved and this is what drove me towards 'Mylot'. I am very new to it.Since I may not have access to my friend as much as I did, this may keep me'sane'.I look forward to my experience here.

Finding mylot has been one of the best things that has happened in my life. All of the different discussions keep me thinking, sharing and enjoying all day long. As empty-nesters, I had little to fill my time while my husband was working. Because I have physical limitations, going out was not an option. I was bored and depressed to the extreme. In just a few months, my friends here have become an extension of my family. My BFF is on mylot with me... we don't always answer each others' posts, because we know everything about each other. But we do talk about things we hear and learn here. Maybe your friends could join you here as well.
