Do you like Dark Chocolate M&M's?

We wanted to try these as soon as the commercials came out, but when we priced them in the stores we just couldn't see paying upwards of $3 USD for a 14 oz bag of candy, so we've been patiently waiting for the after Halloween sale to see what might be found in the sale bins. Bingo! Hubby's eagle eyes spotted them first and the price was 69 cents. What made this bargain hunting extra special was that right at the checkout counter the store had the cheaper milk chocolate M&M's listed at $2.79/lb on sale for ONLY $2.50. We saved around $10 by waiting. I like that kind of arithmetic. We spent some of the money we saved on one of those reed diffuser room scent kits in pine flavor, just in time for Christmas. If they have any of those left in the after Christmas 50-70% off sale bins, we'll pick up a few more for next year, as they don't have a shelf life like the M&Ms... Have you saved a lot by buying something on sale lately? Was it worth waiting for? What do you do with the money you save in this manner? Or are you one of those people who have to have stuff right away, as in I sees it so I seize it?

I recently got a whole bunch of Holloween cand on sale myself. When it goes 75% off one of the cashiers calls me. I always wait for things to go on sale.If you like reed diffusers I know of a way you can get them for free. You just have to refer friends etc.You get $5 in candle coins to start then you get 50 cents everytime someone signs up. You can even use coins for shipping and handling. Then when you or someone you refer uses the coins to purchase you get more coins.PM me if you want the link.It is free to join.

As for wanna get rich schemes.I do this for a living.I make enough to afford my house payments and more.I bring in about $1200 to $1500 a month.Just from the internet.

Cipher, you do hook up with some of the funniest wanna get-rich schemes. Like that energy drink one, for example. I bought something similar to that once called ACT and the little powder packets are really convenient and wow do they ever give one a jolt! But as the main ingredient in them was guarana which is just another name for caffeine, I don't ingest that sort of thing very often. Same with the reed diffusers. I love them, but only have so many rooms in our apartment, you know? What kind of candy did you buy?

i like chocolate but i can't eat a lot, i can't eat as often as i like. ^__^;; sometimes i'm an impulsive buyer, sometimes i'm not. when i buy on impulse, it means that i really like the stuff and i don't like waiting for it to be on sale. of course it disappoints me later on if it went on sale so i try to avoid going back to where i bought it or just looking back at the spot. ^__^;; at times when i can really stop myself from buying something really expensive, i would tell myself i would wait until it gets on sale. but then, i would eventually forget it and i would just be lucky if i get back on that store and see the stuff on sale and i would only remember on that moment that i wanted it before. ^__^;;

Dark chocolate M&Ms? How come you get all the best treats on that side of the Atlantic! Gimme, gimme! I love dark chocolate and I reckon I would really enjoy those. I agree the sale bins are the best place to look first for treats though. We usually buy the yoghurts from the sale section. They are still in code and nothing is wrong with them, people just don't like the plain yoghurts any more. But if you freeze the thin yoghurts they taste yummy! We actually bought our Christmas cards and decorations last January in the sales. However, the most money we have saved has been when somebody threw a perfectly good refridgerator out of their home as they had a larger one. More money than sense for them but more fridge than space for me. I usually bide my time and it has paid off. We bought a couple of chalets (bargain basement again, nobody wanted them as they had no floors and holes in the roof and next year they will be the basis of a full time business, so yes, it sure did pay off and yes, it was well worth waiting for. Plus it kept my partner out from under my feet all summer - now THAT is what I do call a bargain :-)

I remember making creative use out of a few dumpster "finds" when we were starting our first business, too, and they worked out really well. That refrigerator of yours was a real find! Although the flavored yoghurts are convenient, they are starting to sneak nasty stuff in them that we'd rather not ingest, so we like to get the plain ones and add our own healthy and delicious flavors.

Yes, those are good, too, and especially the dark chocolate ones. It is funny to watch people pick out their favorite colors. I like most colors, but tend to avoid the pastel ones. You won't catch me hanging around the after Easter sale bins, lol.

Me, too! The last time we had regular M&M's in the house, they just sat around looking pretty and never got eaten. These are going fast. We may have to take the clerk's suggestion and hide some in the freezer to keep from eating them all up.

I go to the local grocery just to find bargains like meat prices at 40% off. I really am not in need but do have a freezer. It is handy. I gave quite a selection of meat to my son the other night. I get to feel both frugal and generous. I do like dark chocolate m&m's, but I like dark chocolate dove promises even better.

Mmmm Dark Dove is good, too, and without the hard sugar coating and dyes. In truth we do not have M&M's very often and will probably put a few bags in the freezer, as we are not likely to chomp them down all at once. We go for the bargain meats, too especially if it is top sirloin or one of the other cuts with a label that reads "guaranteed tender" --hubby picked out a ribeye steak that read 50% off the other day and I had a hard time convincing him that the top loin I found with a "reduced" tag was an even better buy, so we bought them both and cooked them up together. Both yummy and yes, with that 40 to 50% reduction it tastes even better! I have those Soho pans with the little red dot in the middle that changes color when it is time to slap on the steak. I love those pans.

I am not the biggest fan of chocolate but I do enjoy it once in a while. M&Ms are a favorite of my kids so I eat them sometimes. I like the regular ones and the peanut butter ones. I don't think I tried the dark chocolate ones yet so I can't say, but they sound good to me as well :)

Honestly drannhh I don't like dark chocolate*cringes* so I can't say that I was that excited about them, and I certainly haven't tried them yet. I do like the plain and the peanut though, and I do want to try the peanut butter ones. I bet those would be good! PurpleTeddyBear.

I do love purple, but then I'd be stuck with dark chocolate! Ugggghhhh! I do agree that the ones from Safeway are good but to me a Reeses Pieces Peanut Butter Cup is still the best! I'll have to try the Peanut Butter M&M's though, I bet they will be SO yum! I have never been disappointed with M&M's!

At least you can enjoy the purple wrappers on the new dark chocolate Hershey kisses, then. I love the color purple and have a purple teddy bear that looks almost like your avatar! You would probably like the chocolate peanut butter candy that Safeway stores carry under their own label. They are called Creamy Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups and I like them even better than Reese's. I haven't tried the peanut butter M&M's yet, but they sound yummy.

Wow... is a bargain... Everytime a see a dress that i like... i don't buy it immediately... i wait for the Mall Wide sale which like happen every three or four months...that way, i can buy the dress at a 30% to 50% discount... and with the money that i save i can buy a bag or shoes that would go nicely with the dress... But i haven't tried that sort of thing with chocolates which i love very much... usually if i see a chocolate that i like... i just but it and eat it immediately...

I love everything in dark chocolate! I guess it's because I don't like sweet treats a lot (they make my tummy feel funny afterwards!) and therefore, dark chocolate is my "dessert". When I am really bored, I have to have some dark chocolate, otherwise, I would feel depressed being idle! I used to be that kind of person who would have to have the stuff right away (when I had a job), but now I learn that patience is a virtue (a friend keeps telling me that!) and I could wait for awhile to buy my stuff if I know that there will be a sale coming up! With the saved money, I usually end up in spending on something else as a treat *laughs*.

Yes and it actually feels good to use the saved money to buy other treats! Those make me feel like "oh, I have spent the money wisely"! The brain is a really amazing thing, I keep telling myself I am not tired and it really believed in it and that's why I experienced no problem in "thinking" *laughs*.

Oh, absolutely! Money saved on a treat should be spent on some other treat. We must use other money for mundane purposes. Clearly, your jet lag is not interfering with the good thoughts!

hi drannhh. it's nice to be back and i miss your discussions. well not only my children love chocolates, but me too. i like M&M with nuts. in fact, i prefer chocolates with nuts because it somehow neutralizes the sweetness. however, chocolates made in the US or Europe are expensive in our country, so we can eat so much only if a family member or friends bring some when they go home. chocolates in our country are never sold on sale. how i wish! lol

Welcome back! It used to be a bit like that where we lived, too, and then they started opening "dollar stores" which are really great and they have lots of chocolate. My favorite nut filled chocolate is the Chunky bar and although the dollar store keeps running out, we do get them really cheap there, and for a while they had the dark chocolate ones. You remind me of some movie with Kevin Costner about some cowboys who are maybe going to get killed in a gunfight, so they go into the store first and buy the most expensive chocolate. It was so expensive that the store owner himself couldn't afford to try it. I hope Santa brings you some chocolates for you and your children.

well, maybe what santa can bring to my children are the locally made ones. local or imported children don't mind them as long as they are chocolates. the latest (just this month) that we have eaten is the one called Ghirardelli (i hope i have it right) in bite sizes that my friend sent. the one with a variety of fillings. i'm sure it's quite expensive.

That is a beautiful story! Something similar happened to us when hubby and I were shopping long ago when money was still pretty thin in our household and there was a wonderful set of stacking glass mixing bowls at Sonomoa-Williams that hubby knew I wanted and asked me if we should get them for my birthday. I said no, they are too expensive and I think we should wait. Shortly thereafter we went past the store and I did not even look in the window, but hubby did and saw they were on half price sale so he bought them for me for Christmas instead. Every time I use the bowls, which is every day, I think how cool it was that he found them at such a good price.

The dark chocolate Hershey kisses are great, too, especially the Truffles flavor which is dark on the outside and gooey sweet on the inside. I wish they made their cherry cordials in the dark chocolate.

Most of what we bought was on groceries, but not anything lately. We bought some Macaroni and Cheese on sale, and I have been tempted to buy the regular spaghetti and macaroni on the two for one sale, but my husband would not let me. Anyway, when we go shopping I try to get Yogurt on sale, but we find the store we go to, the Superstore, they are priced a bit higher then at Safeway, but at Safeway the cheaper ones contain Aspertaine and Splendea and I would rather get them with honey or a touch of sugar or just plain and add my own fruit. Oh a while ago, we got a whole package of CDRs on sale, I was about fifty or so, but I cannot tell you the price.

I agree that those artificial sweeteners are horrible and now they have a new one call Neotame that I've seen on the yogurt label. One has to be so careful. When the Barilla Plus macaroni that is enriched with flax seed is on sale we buy lots. Doesn't your husband like pasta?

Yes of course, I love that dark chocolate M&M's and it is one of my favorite chocolate. I love chocolates because of the taste that will last inside my mouth. I love chocolate because it will give a strength while in my work. Sometimes, when I feel stress and bored, I used to eat a chocolate candy to ease my stress feeling and my boredom.

I like the way you say "of course" and yes the chocolate gives a little energy boost. One place I worked they had read one of those studies of chocolate and "performance" and decided to give the workers unlimited free hot cocoa all day long. So much sugar, that way! An M&M is probably healthier.

Only time pretty much that I buy candy is after halloween on sale and After Valentines Day on sale. A little bit at easter but other than that, I don't buy much candy. I know I'll eat it if I buy it so I just dont buy it! Has worked pretty good to - as I look to treat myself and can't find a single kind I like enough to take the calories of it! Just give me a cheese enchillada instead!

Not a fan of dark chocolate, but I do love the after- holiday sales. I got some peanut butter cups for about 50 cents for the bag. That makes them taste even sweeter. I also like buying decorations after a holiday. Some of the prices are so outrageous that I can't see paying full price. Patience really pays off when it comes to that sort of thing.

I totally salivate with the mere mention of chocolates and at the sight of M&M's. I like all the variations, especially the crispy one. They are really valuable to me because that is what my hubby gives me whenever he comes home or yes, whenever he wanted to say Baby, I am so sorry. And the M&M's just melt my heart. Yeah, melts in your mouth not in your hands. Kiddin aside, M&M's is not just supah delicious and hmm so mouth-watering but it also reminds me of my baby (that is my hubby). He is so rough and tough..hard on the outside..but soft and mushy on the inside. The paradox of his personality never fails to amaze me everytime. He knows I adore chocolates and would often say that I should not eat too much of it because I might get diabetes. That is scary indeed because my mom had that and I know it is really difficult to handle. But on the lighter side, i love and adore chocolates even with all the diabetes fright because it makes me feel really warm and good inside. They say it is an aphrodisiac as well as a reliever of stress or depression. So go and have lots of it, have a feast, and give me some..kiddin!
