How long did it take you to get over your first true love ?

It's been 12 years and I'm still not over him. He was my fist real boyfriend and my only love till this day. We dated for four years. I was so stupid to break up with him and it's the biggest regret I have in my life. He's married now and has a son. Although I've had two long term relationships after him, I've only loved him. I think about him every single day. I don't think I'll ever get over it.

It was 11 years aho when i had my first love, i was 14-15 then. Though i didn't have a formal relationship with him then, we had what the what they call mutual understanding. There was no commitment but we had a good "relationship" then. I guess distance and time were didn't give us a chance to give it a chance....but i know and feel that he is my first love. I never felt any bitterness or pain everytime i remember him coz we parted ways in a good manner.

i think it get me 1 year to get over with my first relationship which is my first boyfriend but i think the one that i can say true love was the previous one which took me more than two years now. That was really the painful one since its the first time i feel different, feel really in love compared to the first one.

To be honest, I actually never did get over my first love.. And it's been almost 5 years . I fell in love with him (at age 13).. he was my best friend.. I don't think I can really get over him but rather just "accept" the fact that we can never be together. It was really hard for me because we were so close as friends, he used to call me almost everyday, we were classmates but when I realized that I already love him and when he knew about how I feel, that was it. Our friendship fell apart and we never got the chance to rekindle our friendship because my family and I transferred to another city, miles away from him. :( It was so hard and it really breaks my heart when I think about it.. That is why I don't consider getting over my first love because I still do think about him. I still wish we could talk things out and be friends. I still wish that he will eventually learn to love me.. everything. That is why I think the term/word for me is "Acceptance" Rather than getting over. Because no matter how hard I deny it, I still do want him, I still do love him. I might sound too desperate but that's just really how I feel. But I'm a lot better now than before. I do accept the fact that he will never be mine.. But I still do hope that miracles will happen.. Just wanna share a few lines: I still miss him. But not like I did before The intense aching I felt. Isn't there anymore. I still whisper his name. Not as often as I used to. Now it may be once, Before the day is through I still feel him sometimes.. Maybe he's thinking of me? Or maybe it's just a little memory Of how it used to be.. He still have a piece of my heart. Because I always felt him here. Now, I'm hoping and praying.. That, that too, will quickly disappear. This is my last goodbye I've nothing else to say Everything I felt for you (my first love) Can now just fade away.. _____Everytime I read the poem, It makes me stronger____ It's really hard to get over your first true love. I must say it is about 2 year for me to completely forget about it. I know how hurt it feels. i already get over it and I am glad because I can learn a lot from that experience.. The experience of hurt, sad and down. It hard to forget about him, but I never forget him. I just move on with my life and keep him in my memories plus forgive him for what he has done to me... About five years. I was 16 and dated till I was 19. She dumped me so I went into the service. Im 43 now and still think of her now and then but I have a great wife and wouldnt trade her for anyone.

its been about 6 months since weve been together and im still not over it. Its not like im still hung up on him..its just the whole..him treating me like i was his world while dating..and now treating me l ike im the scum of the earth now that we arent.. Now thats whats bugging me. First loves last a longggg time tho i just want it to go away..
