Today Is My Birthday...Happy Birthday to ME...(think of that Beatles Song)

At 2:29 A.M. officiated my 52nd year of life. Yes, it's my birthday! Now I can vividly remember when I was a teenager, my gosh, I thought thirty was old, and someone in their 50s..yikes, near death..LOL. Well, I'm very much well and alive thank you very much. And like most people I may not be entirely thrilled as another year marches on, but nonetheless, I so celebrate my birthday. WHY NOT? Why shouldn't I celebrate ME!! Now, I really do go all out on my birthday. For years, I've celebrated my birthday by cooking up my special Beouf Bourguignon dinner served on a bed of couscous, with a birthday cake (of course) folloed by a glass of wine (I'm not much of a drinker so a treat). I buy a special birthday balloon, get a card for myself and enjoy my special day and night. But for the past five years I've added a new twist. You see, six years ago, I decided to follow the pagan/wiccan path. Not that I've completely abandoned my Christian upbringing but the pagan path made me feel like I came "home" to many of the things I've always believed in. So anyone who decides to follow this new path, must study the wiccan/pagan ways for at least a year and a day to learn the preliminaries, yet it is a lifetime study actually.. After a year and a day, one can then be officially be initiated into this path. So five years ago, after my year and a day studies, I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than doing my self-initiation into my new life, and did so by having previously written out a very detailed "ceremony" which was 13 pages long..mmm..strange it turned out to be 13 pages, no? It was a most memorable event, for just as I was conducting my ceremony, the full moon came shining down through my window that year. But now, each succeeding year I re-enact my ceremony to re-dedicate myself to my chosen way of spiritual life. And I've already done that as I always conduct my little ceremony near my birth time of 2:29 A.M. Another thing. An old saying I heard my great-grandmother, grandmother and mother tell me. Never do anything on your birthday that you don't want to do for the next twelve months, so I've also have made it a conscious effort to never do on my birthday that I don't want to do exclusively for the next twelve months. So yesterday, I did all my cleaning chores, so I wouldn't have to do any cleaning on my birthday, uh, save the dishes I have to wash..LOL. I DO plan to be in front of my computer working on my photography work, and do a bit of my fictional writing..both my passions and deep loves in my life and hope to be a success at in the near future. These are my dreams, goals, and ambitions I've yearned for, to be a complete success in my creative endeavors. So I may not be here too much today..but will pop in from time to time. So...this is my idea of celebrating my birthday. Hey, not everyone celebrates their birthday by re-dedicating themselves as a pagan/wiccan....LOL So to make this a discussion. How do you celebrate your birthday? Do you have a big whoop-de-do birthday party? Have a special dinner? Celebrate with friends or family? Or would you rather crawl into the ground and forget about the whole ordeal?

Gee, my former roomie said that what ever you do on New Years Day is what you will be doing a lot of the rest of the year. I'd like to start that for my birthday too, but I've gotta go to work & I don't want to be working the rest of the year! LOL Well, being employed is fine, I guess. Maybe my client will go easy on me that day - which is next Friday! I'll be 54! The roomie turned 47 on last Wedsday, she took off work & did a lot of sleeping & kitten playing! I hope we can pass on the kitten playing the rest of the year too!!!!

Hi pyewacket! Happy 52nd Birthday my dear friend! I am so happy to know that you are somehow a renewed person and found meaning in your spiritual way of life. I do wish the best in everything life has to offer for you today and all your tomorrows. If I can call you and wish you a happy birthday, I will but I don't know your number and I live at the other side of the globe. haha..But I will give you a call if you will give me your number. As for my way of celebrating my birthday, I am just happy to celebrate it with my husband and my nieces and nephew. Take care and hope you will have a wonderful birthday. :)

Happy Happy Birthday Pye!..and may you have many, many more to come! So you are a Scorpio with Libra rising, what a nice combo, if I figured it out correctly, haha...havent' done that in quite a while. "13" is a very lucky number to some...including me for what reason I'm not sure. Funny how your ceremony ended up with 13 pages.....do you have fun on Friday the 13th? I should read up on Wiccan ways to familiarize myself with it...For some reason I always have had Wiccan friends and met them always on the internet, it's almost like I'm drawn to them or them to me, I find that strange. The one is a psychic and we've become very close...she's a sweetheart and a very good friend. Someday I'll write about all the paranormal stuff that has happened to me through my lifetime, tons of it, but now is not the time. Today it's your Birthday and we all must celebrate and wish you the very best!!!!! So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! again to you and hope your day is as pleasant as a summer breeze!

So you know a lot of Wiccans? Must be telling you something there...LOL Thank you for the birthday wishes. Yeesh, I'm stuffed now..ate a lot of cake..LOL Oh but gee, don't want it to go to waste...heheee

Happy birthday to you. Wow, what are you going to do next? I usually celebrate my birthday with family and sometimes with friends. They usually get me a cake of my choice and flowers the whole nine yard. I sometimes prefer to have a romantic one on one with my hubby. We did that one time and it work out really well. But for my dad's 50'th birthday we took him out to a Chinese restaurant and had a nine course meal. Everything on the menu was his favorite and was very expensive but he had a great time and so did we.

I found out your age sometime ago, but if you never had told me, just from 'listening' to you on mylot, I would have thought you were late twenties, early thirties. I don't know how you made it to where you are, sanity intact, but I'm very glad you did. Happy Birthday Pye, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I'm so glad God gave the world our very own Pyewacket. : )

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PYEWACKET *raises a glass* congratulations hun. My birthday is the end of this week, on the 23rd, and this year I know my partner has arranged a surprise party for me. He's not very good at keeping secrets :-) When I hit 50 my friends organised a party at our local goth club, everyone was there and I had a great time dancing into the early hours.

My birthday usually gets lost as it is near Halloween. Since I am of an age where birthdays mean little to me I just treat it as another day. My best friend on line usually sends me a lovely birthday wish and that makes me day for me. I am not into big celebrations of any kind, so birthdays are just another day to muddle through for me...lol.

A very happy birthday to you, my friend:-) I do not really celebrate my birthday, as I do not like myself growing older and that is what birthdays remind me of. Lots of thoughts, dreams, plans, etc in the mind and there is very little time to accomplish it all.

Happy Birthday Pye!!! Sounds like you have had a really good one, doing something that you enjoy and have dedicated your life too. Need some help eating that cake? hehe As for my birthday, March 30th, me and a group of friends get together and go to eat at our faveorite Chinese Restaurant and then go out to the bar for some drinks afterwards. I have a small group of friends that our birthdays fall within 3 weeks of eachother. So we all just pick a weekend in that period and go to eat. More than just the birthday girls will go, close friends and family will attend too, so its usually a nice group of womean, oh Id say 10 to 13 of us. We have so much fun!! We laugh and eat and be merry, its a wonderful time. Its something I really look forward to doing. Bay Lay Gray xx

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Pye!! Happy Birthday to you:p And many more!!! I hope you have a great day:D I think it's wonderful that you celebrate your birthday so. And I hope you always do! It really all depends on what I do on my birthday. Usually we do got out to eat somewhere though if nothing else. This past year we were in my hometown with my family and I got to enjoy a nice afternoon with my mom and grandma and sister. Then my sister and I drove out my dads and waited with my dad's girlfriend and her daughter for the boys to come home (the had free tickets to a UK game that I wouldn't let them pass up) then we all went out to eat that night. The year before last we were suppose to on the beach in Florida but the dealership that was replacing our brakes didn't get it finished in time and we had to leave the night of my birthday instead of the day before - so I claimed my birthday a day later that year LOL.

happy birthday to you - Time to celebrate your birthday
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PYE!!! It sounds like you are planning a good day for yourself. I always spend my birthday with my family. This year was my 40th and I went for a meal. I don't do big parties or things like that, I end up spending all my time worrying if everyone is enjoying themselves. HAVE A GREAT DAY X

Happy birthday, Pyewacket. Eh...I don't celebrate. Not that I dislike my birthday, that's not it. I've always lvoed my birthday...I've just..not often had the ability or time, or choice t celebrate it. I'll thank the Goddess for yet another year lived...but I hurry on, to what I consider more important or necessary. I'm not fond of this fact...I'd much rather have a nice party, good off and eat sugary goodness for an entire day. It just...rarely happens. And sometimes my birthday goes by unmarked, unnoticed. I dunno. My life's too serious, sometimes I think. I could really do with more fun...but I'm not usually the decider of how things turn out so.. *shrugs* It doesn't bother me. It strikes me as humorous now, at driving age. I'm old. Lol. Or that's how it feels. I'm old. Gone were the days when I was carefree and a child..though part of me certainly still is. I feel as if I've grown up already, without really wishing to. Lol. I don't usually re-dedicate myself as a pagan, but I do make new oaths to uphold every year. Special promises to whatever higher power exists, to keep. And so far I always have kept them...and that's enough to reaffirm me to my faith to me. It helps I feel as if I always walked this path anyway, and that when I officially became pagan..it was more to confirm the fact than a discovery...though certainly I reacted with awe and inspiration when I learned there WAS a name for my "religion" lol. ^_^ Again though, I hope you've had the most happy of birthdays, and many fun times to remember for always :)

I think it's really cool, to be honest. It's a wonderful feeling, that we've found a home in a faith which is unique to each of us specifically. But yeah, I think that's a cool way to spend your birthday ^_^

I think that is how a lot of us pagan/wiccans feel, that once we have decided that we wish to follow this path in life that we've come "home"--know I did..that's why I have always thought it great that as part of my birthday celebration to officiate myself again as part of my special day :)

I don't know why I don't like celebrating my birthday. When I was young the only thing I like about it was presents. but I don't like being surrounded by people at all. since I got married only my husband and I celebrate it, just eat out and he will buy me gift. It's not necessary but he wants to. For me a perfect birthday is just two of us eat out or I will cook seafood meal. Now getting gifts or not is not that much of a deal.
