We had a white Christmas after all!

Happily, it didn't get serious until all our family and friends were safely home! It came down at a leisurely rate until about 5 a.m.... since then, I can barely see through it! None of us can even remember our last white Christmas... in a way, its a treat, because most of the people we know can't get down these country roads to get to work today! There are a few trees down, because its that wet and sticky kind of snow, plus a few people who had a bit too much Christmas 'cheer' knocked a couple trees down last night... this the perfect day to stay in, make turkey soup and finish off that veggie tray! Oh, yes! Happy Boxing Day!

I would love to adopt everyone else's holidays... every day would be a celebration! This one is a wonderful tradition... it shows that the lord of the manor wasn't always a bad guy! BTW... I'm a jill, too... your father's name wasn't Jack, was it?

I love my Mom dearly, but I'm still a bit miffed about that one... my sisters all have beautiful names that roll off the tongue... I get to spend my life as a nursery-rhyme kid who tumbled down a hill... this may explain why I'm so graceful now!LOL! But my Pop was a love, so its not too bad...

I made gallons! And biscuits, and flax seed bread... then the last of it was turkey pot pie. How can anyone not LOVE turkey? As for the white Christmas, that was enough snow! It can go away now and give me some gardening weather!LOL!

Well, we had a Green Christmas this yr, unless you count the Snow Flakes I seen flying thru the air that never stuck on the ground. I actually live in Seattle, and most yrs. we are lucky to ever see much snow here on the ground.

I'm about 60 miles north of you... how did you get so lucky? We're in the infamous 'convergence zone'... we're never sure what will happen with the weather from hour to hour... and I'm more up in the mountains as well. I love when our winters are wet and mild... thats why I live here!

We didn't have a white Christmas this year but it was okay with me. I would have liked to have had snow flurries, but it is okay that I didn't. I don't like the cold and snow. We may have flurries tonight so I will have to be careful in the morning when I leave work.

I am actually afraid of snow! I'm convinced I'll break another bone even trying to walk on it, so it keeps me house-bound when we have it. But the superstitions around here go that, if we have snow on Thanksgiving, we'll have a hard January and Spring will be late. If it snows on Christmas, it will be mild and warm up early... and I'm all for that!

Hi alamode, We had a white Christmas too, but it's not unusual for us. This year we have a lot of snow and it came early. We had another storm yesterday and even most businesses were closed. Today is a perfect day for digging out, but more snow is on the way. We are hoping that it won't be as much this time. Happy new year my friend. Blessings.

Hi, pose... we've been getting a LOT of rain since I posted... the last of our snow is washing away. Thats fine with me... I'm scared of the stuff! We usually get more in January, and we've had 18" snowfalls many years in a row... I hope we break that streak this time and Spring comes early! Well... I can dream... lol! A very happy new year to you and yours, my friend!

We usually have two good 'dumps' a year... from 12 to 24 inches of snow in a short amount of time, breaking branches and collapsing backyard toolsheds, then moving on. Because we're close to the water, the marine air moves it out fast and we warm up and melt off pretty rapidly. We have a lot of people moving here from California and other warm places... they have trouble driving in snow, and leave cars abandonded everywhere. It gets quite dangerous, so we're glad it never stays! A Happy New Year to you, as well... 2008 already! Wow!

I forgot all about Boxing Day! Have to give stuff out tomorrow, I guess. We had snow every day the week before and a couple days before that. We were happy when it stopped snowing! It's all relative. But one day we got snowed in and I got a chance to stay home with my hubbie. What a nice, warm snuggly day. Take care

Those days are rare and fine... thats what we did today. The only problem... the kids can't come over to help finish off the leftovers! I can freeze most of it, but not..... the cheesecake! The devil is in my fridge, disguised with fruit-flavored swirls!I shall resist temptation as long as I can! This is a wet and slushy snow now... as long as it doesn't freeze, things will be back to normal tomorrow. There's a lot of dripping going on, so its melting fast. We had a trip to Canada many years ago on Boxing Day... its pretty cool to extend the celebration one more day! And all those who worked Christmas day get kudos from me, in a big way!

I wish that I had a white christmas. My christmas was quite warm. Maybe I should move to the northern states in order to experience a true white christmas. The only problem with that is, I wouldnt want to be stuck in some kind of ice storm.

Oh, yes! In N.C., you would! We don't usually get our snow until January, so this is sort of a big deal. We're close to the coast, so we mostly have rain... lots and lots of RAIN!LOL! But I'd rather have rain than freezing and snow... I won't melt, but I might slip and break another bone!
