With the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, a lot of things are up in the air. Will there be elections held in Pakistan, or will they be posponed? Will the opposition party be able to come up with a viable candidate in time? Will the people of Pakistan show up to the polls if there is one? How long will they keep rioting... But the biggest and most important thing that her assassination throw into the air... Who will get the nukes?

My pray is: that her 19 year old son, Bilawal Zardari, eldest of her 3 children, would have his mother's & GrandFather's, as well his GrandGrandFather's Vission and love for his country. To avange his mother's, GF's, and GGF's executions, not to be in vain, by continuing to fight and strive for democracy for his country. Let us pray that from evil will come good, as it did during Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto, in 1947. Let us pray.

we all believe what we read and read what we believe. 10% more / 10% less, yet all allegations + accusations and exacutions were all done under an army general dictatorship regime. What counts at the end is that the best revenge/avenge is DEMOCRACY & FREEDOM of RIGHTS. May we all have a peacefull & healthy New-Year

the assasination brings more unrest to the already chaotic and conflict-laden country. it causes more riots and violence all over the country. supporters of bhutto are crying for justice. the government should do all it can do deliver and present the mastermind of the assasination. otherwise, the country will go down the drain and unrest will reign. i hope it does not happen.

I hope Bhutto gets justice too, and share your hope that the country doesn't "go down the drain" over this.

Pak's nukes are an interesting discussion point. A few years ago there was serious intelligence that a nuclear device was smuggled into the USA with the intent it be detonated in a major city. Of course, we wanted to know if that was even possible. So, the USA asked all nuke nations to open their inventories for inspection and counting. We wanted to see if anyone was missing one. All nations agreed except Pakistan. G.W. Bush threatened them with a tac nuke strike to destroy their inventory if they did not co-operate. They co-operated and we figured out why they did not intially. While Pakistan had not lost any of their nukes, they are not stored that securely and are maintained poorly. About 1/2 of Pak's nukes would likely fail to explode if utilized. We learned this only because we inspected and counted their weapons. US nuke experts believe Pak was just trying to hide the sorry state of their nuke program and not anything else. Who get's Pak's nukes? Darn good question. Even nukes in bad condition are something to worry about.

As far as i understand it the planned elections will be postponed, just like Musharaffe would want. I fear for democracy in Pakistan, it does not mix with islam blessed be

Hello, ParaTed!with the assassination of Benazir Bhutto the possibility of holding the national elections has just faded up.the country is under fire, riot has already started and the military is on the roads to curb the agitations.the situation will further deteriorate in the days to follow and in just 10 days normalcy can not be restored.let us see what the President is doing for restoring peace.my opinion is first the President should step down and power should be transferred to a concencious caretaker government to ensure free and fair election.but it is not possible as the President will not agree to this.in the present circumstance, however, holding election is not possible.it has to be deferred and Pakistan will be passing through political crisis.thank you.good day.

We can't write off elections yet, but you are right, the assassination does put them in grave jeopardy. I've heard the plan is to hold the elections anyway. I hope they can pull it off.
