Im getting tired of seeing people in africa struggling because of other countries power over the continent. the only thing that they can do is unite and form a new currency and start over. If you have a difference in opinion please speak your mind.

Hey there, I dont think its a matter of them having to change their currency. If that currency is changed, it doesn't neccesarily mean that they will improve economically. Economics is based on the theories of out/production/demand/supply etc etc. Changing the currency would still have NO effect if there is mass amount of poverty and crisis in regions. Look at it in this way. If someone changed how much i am payed, yes i may want to work harder. But what if im a lumber worker and pay is going up for fast food services? What does that do for me. I am a lumber worker and cant make the transition so quick. Inbetween that time in making transition, someone else takes my position. The same is for africa. If the currency is changed, there is still they KEY factor of training and getting africans to be in that transitionary stage to find their niche in this NEW economical world. No longer is it beneficial to be self - sufficient. Global markets and trading is the key to success. In my opinion, the thing that can help the africans rather than a currency change is if our nations that are doing well off; the industrialized world, to go there, add our expertise to TEACHING the kids and forefathers of that nation. Let them have the knowledge to go out, and BE someone. Not only will this benefit economically, but will boost morale and confidence in the country as a whole.

what im trying to say is that, they should stop whatever they are doing and try to unite and rely on themselves for now then do whatever you just said. I dont know why im talking about this im only 15

I realize you're only 15, but that is always good to have thoughts as these come through your mind. I am only 17, and i like in Canada but my parents are both African born. I make these mere suggestions as another solution rather than a conflictual one of yours. I do beleive however that being only 15, you cannot take one view of how you see it. Without seeing as many perspectives as you can, you lose out on opportunities that can bind together and make the solution that will fix the problem. Who knows, maybe one day itll be a combination of Industrial countries and a whole restructuring of africa that will both come together to be the solution to making a prosperous africa!

You are taking of the continent of Africa. The same argument could then be used for the continent of North America which includes Mexico and Central America. To help the poor and starving in Guatamala, Honduras, Nicaragua, etc. would you all use the peso? No, Africa is comprised of fiercly independent countries and it is difficult to get them to unite over anything. The countries you are referring to are in West, East, Central and the northern countries of Southern Africa. These countries were untouched, to any degree, till just over 100 years ago. Then, under colonial rule, they had roads, rail and cities built with all the facilities that goes with a modern society; electricity, water, schools, hospitals, industry and so on. Then about 50 years ago they were given independence due to pressure from America and Russia and have sadly deteriorated ever since due to totally incompetent and corrupt administration. The battle for political control of Africa stopped when the USSR collapsed and the USA has no need for Africa so the Chinese have now stepped in to control a lot of the industry and extraction of raw materials for their own insatiable need. However, the Chinese are more inscrutable and do not get involved with converting the countries to Christianity, Democracy and other pillars of Western life - they just get on with extraction and the infrastructure needed to export the product. Otherwise they let the politicians fight amongst themselves and kill and starve the population as they always did long before the colonists arrived. No change there. My solution today? Run the countries by Charter. Send in companies to run the countries like a business. Make the population share holders and pay them dividends when there is a profit. Recognise the ancient customs of tribalism to flourish, as they do today, but that will be the gesture to political representation - they do not run the country. I now await a massive attack! haha
