I do not pity anyone. If a person has a disability, then they are stronger than me. That person goes through their everyday life limited in one way or another, and I do not have this challenge. I have much respect for anyone with a disability and look up to them. Any other person that I meet that just acts like they can't go on with it anymore, uh-uh, take the path of a person with a real disability, and then start complaining. I know that I'm probably sounding harsh here, because yes we all have bad days, but I'm still able to get out of bed in the morning and walk to the bathroom, and brush my own hair and teeth, dress myself, eat my own food, and accomplish any other task that my day has planned for me. As I said before, I respect these people and what they have accomplished in their lives although having a bit of a rougher path than I.

I do not pity disable people in the sense that I still believe that they are still capable in their own ways. I pity those who are losing hope about their situation and to those disable people that are being taken advantage of.

As a person with an obvious mobility impairment, I can tell that the last thing we need is pity- access, acceptance, and accomodation, yes. Pity no!

I don't pity them as though they are helpless. I do have compassion for them though because they may not be able to do all the things others can do. I myself am disabled in some ways, as there are certain jobs that are too stressful for me (more so than the average person.) I feel a little helpless at times, but I only can do what I can do.

Good grief...disabled people do not need pity. We might need assistance here and there but we sure do not need pity. Renee
