Seasonal Work Has Finished... Now What!?!

It's been over 4 days now since I finished working at my seasonal temporary job and now I'm bored LOL I really enjoyed getting out of the house and joining the rest of the workforce and also making some new friends. The thought of sitting at home again, doing mundane household chores and such doesn't sound appealing anymore. I put in an application for a more permanent part-time day position and they said they would get back to me. Apparently most of those that they hired during the seasonal period (I think 50 odd) did the same thing too. If I don't hear back from them next week, I am going to find me another part time job at the Mall. I may not get exactly what I had at my previous job i.e $$ and benefits, but that's ok, getting out and about, meeting new people and making friends and sorts outweighs how much I might get in the bank - the thought of getting out there and working again makes me HAPPY! Happy New Year Everyone!

Happy New Year to you as well, my friend. I know that living life outside does make a change, that I know ends up for our own well-being. That's a lot of big difference, between virtual friends and personal friends. You get to long more of their persence, the sense of them being there beside and most of all the lphysical laughter you share with each other!;) I do hope that you do get to find a new job, I always believe in the saying that "strike while the iron is still hot" would definitely be appropriate for your situation right now!=)

Hi there Raijin! :) and you are absolutely right. Now that I am in the mood to work, have the confidence to keep on going, enjoyed what I experienced during the holidays, I should keep on going. I know I will find another part time job soon and I can't wait :) In the meantime I'm going to catch up on some of the discussions I've missed while I was working as I know there is a lot. I'll keep earning online as much as I can for now :0) thanks for the encouragement my friend!

Interesting alright! It's funny how they just stopped giving us schedules and told all of us to call and if they needed extra hours they will let us know. Oh well, who knows, we shall see what the new year brings. Happy New Year to You too!

I am sorry to hear that your temporary job ended. Why don't you take some time now to go back to school, since you say that the money is not the most important thing. This way, you can decide what you want to do and make good money at doing it. You will still be getting out of the house and meeting new people.

I actually thought they might have wanted to keep me on. I got lots of praise and compliments on my work and how quickly I picked everything up and worked well with the team, but was told like every other seasonal worker that all we can do is call and see if they have extra hours available. They even had us fill in application forms asking us if we were available after the holidays, and I filled it out informing them that I am available part time during the day and thats it. I know they have a lot of seasonal workers to deal with but the way they just ended all our schedules was kinda weird. It happened to all of us. I thought i was extra special HAHAHA oh well i might just think about going back to school!

Good luck on finding another job. I work seasonal, but a bit differently lol. I'm a seasonal wildland firefighter for the forestry service, I work from mid-March to the end of November, so I'm on leave now, and loving the down time. I have a lot of projects to take up some of my time, and I can catch up on my scrapbooking. And along with my scrapbooking, I can take a lot more pictures, lol I got a new camera for Christmas. Of course, I'm enjoying the down time, because in the spring there will be plenty of 10 and 12 hour days put in.

I know what you mean about being bored. I worked from home for almost a year, and when I got the new job at the daycare I'm working at it was weird being back with people on a daily basis and getting into a new schedule. I definitely wasn't bored anymore! I enjoy (sometimes) being around my co-workers and getting out of the house. When we were off for the holidays, I was so bored sitting at home agin, but I secretly kinda missed it some too. :P Good luck with finding a new job to occupy your time!

Seasonal jobs are the best! If you partner up with a good employment agency, you could work most of the major retail holidays, summertime and other as needed periods. If you have kids, become a substitute teacher or other school worker: nine months on and three off. There is always internet marketing if all else fails. We can always find things to keep us engaged. You are the type who will make a way and find your happiness in whatever you chose. Go git 'em, Girl! I hear you ROAR.

rrrrreeeeeeeeowwww hahaha! thanks for your support and your kind words. I do have a 5 year old son who started kindergarten last year and I volunteer at his school at least once a month and through the PTA as well. I might just check out the local employment agency, thanks for the idea roberten :)

great to hear that you enjoyed your time working! I guess we all need to get out of the house once in a while. hope you get that job that you reapplied for. It sounds like it works for you even though you have a kid. it's rare to find jobs like that.
