Do you watch anime streaming (online), download, or purchase??

How do you watch your anime? Do you purchase the DVD's from Japan or the US depending on where it is licensed? Do you watch them on online streaming sites like YouTube and Veoh? Do you download the fansubs from the internet? Me, I download and purchase in English when available. Since the US is pretty slow in translating anime. I get really impatient and just download the fansubs. I'm very objected to watching it online. 1.Quality is low. 2.You have to online to watch it. 3.I like having a copy of it to make AMV's if a want to. 4.Most sub sites (like DB) don't like you uploading their fansubs to streaming sites.

I do a bit of downloading and a bit of purchasing. Purchase what I can find... and afford... the rest only the lords of the internets may know. And yes the Dubbing process is ridiculously slow, we hardly every get bonus goodies with the discs... And yeah the quality on places like youtube and crunchy roll is crap when compared to even a normal quality xvid. I haven't watched most of the discs I've bought either... because it's old stuff I finished a long time before it ever came here...

Sailormoon manga - picture from sailormoon artbook
hi emarie! ^__^ there's only a limited titles available (and most of them are old) in the stores and i don't have a lot of extra money to purchase online (i don't even have a credit card), and i don't like to download because i wouldn't watch it again anyway, so i usually watch anime online. either in crunchyroll or in youtube. there's no problem for me going online because there's internet at the office and at home. ^__^ and i don't mind if its low quality as long as i can see the picture clearly and the subs.

oh i see. well, i think its really not proper for people to upload fansubs by organizations like dattebayo. but then, thanks to this people, we can watch some good fansubs online. LOL anyway, i guess i'll just buy dvds os dattebayo fansubs. ^__^;; but i'll still watch anime in crunchyroll. ^__^

i know about crunchyroll but i refuse to use it because i do love anime. to prevent anime companies from targeting fansub groups, i would rather report the anime episodes uploaded to sites like that then watch it. they've already been threatening to shut down several fan sites. needless to say, i think download is better then uploading onto streaming sites.

Before, my elder brothers buy them yet, whenever we watch them, there's always that message that states that "if you purchased this video, you been ripped off" or something similar. They continued until they got tired of buying or the quality deteriorated from the distributor. I use to watch a whole series at video streamed sites but, it really depends on the connection for it to be really convenient. I just couldn't handle the sudden pauses. On my end, I found out how to get them free but I had to wait long hours if not days for download. "Subbed by fans for fans" as it is often suggested. So whenever I get to download a full series at torrents, I always seed it at least a month before going for another series. Then again, if I had a larger hard drive, I wouldn't mind seeding them longer along with other anime series. And when friends of mine find some of the series I download interesting, I also get anime series to download from their suggestions, I just ask for their own recordable discs so I can burn them a copy for them to watch at their own home. I stress on "sharing"

That great. Yeah all the fansubs say the "if you've purchased this you've been ripped" most of the time you pay for a site membership and then get a faster upload of the anime. I have a DSL connection and average single episodes can take 30min-1hr and the longest i've downloaded was about 3-4 days. It good to seed especially the ones with no or little seeds. I do an average of 2.2 sharing ratio. I can't always leave my computer on, so I at least leave it on till the.

so you plan not to give ANYTHING back to the people who actually make the anime? thats a little rude don't you think. I download, but I purchase the anime as well, even if I've watched it already. If people don't do that, then the demand for the anime will go down and they'll stop bringing it over seas and the original animation studio will be hurt in the long run. shame. to those who don't buy any anime you should think about that. i have only 1 income and 4 people to take care of, but i find some cash to purchase a DVD or 2.

Coming from a country were the companies who license the anime broadcast the series but don't sell DVD's, here are my options: 1. Buy pirated DVD's (from Hong Kong, mostly) 2. Buy fansubs 3. Order original Japanese DVD's with no subs. 4. Order English-dubbed DVDs from the US. 5. Download fansubs. 6. Watch them online. Seeing how the first 2 options promote piracy, and how the next 2 are outrageously expensive, I'll have to choose 5 or 6. I know it means I'm getting my anime for free but it's better like that, when no one earns, than paying for illegal DVDs and somebody steals the money they shouldn't be earning. Sometimes when I have the time and bandwidth and no disk space I watch them online. If I have limited internet time I download them from torrents and watch them later.

i see a few things wrong there. 1st, if you ever purchased a fansub...then you got ripped off because all fansubs are offered FREE. The problem is finding them mostly. Most Japanese DVD's have English subs and if you buy it from certain online places its actually pretty cheap. Like NextDayAnime is a good place, they're always having sales on their DVD's from Japan with English subs.

But for some people who can't afford an internet connection in here #2 is an option for them. I'll check out NextDayAnime, hopefully the shipping cost isn't greater than the actual DVD price (in my experience it usually is).

Most of daily dose of anime are from crunchyroll.com but since now its becoming a lot messy and almost all of the good movies are licensed I been there for only a few times. If I can afford it, i always try to buy a copies but most of them are movies and not a serial. Like most of the movies of Studio Ghibli, i try to buy all of there movies because one, most of there movies are hard to find online, two the theme of every movies are just awesome and pretty inspirational and three all of them have a high quality of animation. I also like to have a copy of some of Madhouse works.

One of my online friend did mention she loves to watch online movies, and that's what I'm currently experimenting with right now. I am trying my best to watch free online movies at work whenever there is a bit of free time here and there. As for DVD's from Japan, I'd say I don't have a preference. Anything that has English subtitles, I won't mind watching if they are foreign ones. And I love to subscribe to music video sites. They are awesome and a way for me to pass my boring time at work.

I prefer to watch them streaming online. I will sometimes download them only when there is something that I cannot find, but that is only after spending some time searching.

well, its pretty much against all streaming sites policies to upload the anime episodes unless you're watching it on animenetwork or something like that. their site has some anime up to watch like on demand sort of stuff. most fansubbing sites dont like people uploading the fansubs to streaming sites because the fansubs could get shut down.
