How Do You Make An Impression When Starting A New Job?

Okay so I am starting a new job Monday morning. A good job and I want to make a good impression to start off with. How do you set a good first impression without stepping on anyones toes? Should I just kind of stay quiet the first day and take as much in and then gradually get to know anyone and let them know I'm a confident and capable worker? When starting a new job, what do you do? Do you take things slow, or go in there and try to prove you are wanting to be the best?

Yeah I am so paranoid usually when I start a new job that I watch every single thing around me so I can learn my way and not get lost in what I am doing. Thank you for wishing me luck and I hope you have a good Monday as well!

you should start off slowly and take your time. the work you do will prove to your employer, how valuable you can be to this company stay humble, if dont know much ask the job especially if you are new to it. the boss will take notice

Einstein gave you the best advice. I have trained many people during my working years and formed many first impressions. Your best approach is to be attentive, show a positive attitude and ask for assistance when you are not sure how a specific task should be performed. Take it slow listen and learn. Even if you are familiar with the type of work you are doing in your new job be aware that each company has their own way of doing things. Best of luck.

thats easy! Speak only when you are spoken to. Keep your mind on your work. Always do your best work. Pay attention, and don't slack off.

Thank you for your advice, I try to do all those things but I know with this job being 12 hour shifts I will start to want to slack off some towards the end of the workday. I am going to do my best not to let that happen.

I don't take things slow. I jump in and I take every assignment, though some are very new and tedious.

I will usually jump right in as long as I know what I am doing first. At this job I will probably have to take things slow at first until I see what's going on. Then I will take every assignment and work through them as hard as I can. Thank you so much for the advice!

Make sure you do as your told, work hard and get to know the people there. You dont want to try too hard or the people will probably find you annoying. What's the job?

Thank you for the advice, I try to do all those things and I am usually pretty quiet at first when it comes to talking to people so that they don't think I'm annoying ha ha. The job is at a factory that produces the big rolls of fiber optic cable. I'll be helping package the big rolls up to send off to the various companies that uses the cable.

Hello Armstrong7886,Keep a smilling face with an absolute positive attitude, what ever job you will be assigned on the first day or later days do it as fast as possible without any error, your attitude and body language should reflect your personality and you should try to make everybody understand that you are damn serious regarding your assigned jobs and you dont consider your office a gossip cafe lol.I wish you best of luck.Thanks.

I am usually a pretty quick learner so I am hoping I can catch on at this job pretty quick, I'll definitely work as hard as I possibly can. It's not an office job but I still am going to dress pretty decent so that I can make a better impression. Thank you!

i would go in and be attentive and listen and learn and be apprciative of the person that is teaching you your new job.i have been training people for years in my job and i would rather have someone who is keen and eager to learn ,than someone who thinks they know it all.be positive and be yourself and you should be fine.good luck .cheers sue
