Should Local-Authorities be ACCOUNTABLE for SAFETY of our Children & Elderly?

Sadly, this tragic event in N.B.Canada could have been, possibly, avoided. We will NEVER have "100% NO accident" -- SAFE environment. However, we ought to look beyond and learn, yet some Local-Government-Officials would rather look in the direction of how to SAVE-MONEY. A budget towards proper equipped-busses & Professional-Experienced-drivers along with stiff regulations, rules, laws and inspections just might REDUCE the RISK of it happening. Read the story, NOT to be compared, to get a grip on the way our Local-Authorities think & operate, while our beloved children & elderly are at constant RISK. http://thesuburban.com/content.jsp?sid=17203793631833586767115833993&ctid=1000029&cnid=1010919 AND http://www.cbc.ca/news/yourview/2008/01/small_nb_city_in_disbelief_aft.html#comments POST YOUR VIEWS

Mashlomha Lionpuppyheart, You do know that even here in the states, parents drive kids to field trips and special events, because there is no money for special buses. If the parents are not willing to do it, the kids do not get to go anywhere interesting. Our schools are so underfunded in some places that we do not have things like music anymore. There are no physical education classes either in a lot of schools. It is sad but it is here too not just in your country. And no one is going to fix it. As the population ages and the younger generation has less kids there will be less and less money for schools. There will also be less money for older people because there are less young people paying into the tax funds. Shalom~Adoniah

How RIGHT you are!!! You have hit the nail on its head!!! Interesting enough, Russia was/is thinking different, yet we consider them to be... The following site would revile how Children and their safety is/was a priority in Russia, since 2005, by A National-Project; concerning BUSSES to transport them. All from Government-coffin spending of 30 Billion Rubels (equivalent of over $1.3 Billion US). http://eng.mon.gov.ru/pro/pnpo/avt/ So the question to ask is: "are we inferior to the Russians when it comes to our children & elderly"?
