Well if you are looking for somrthing that is good for cleaning up everyday stains like pet waste, or spills a spray called hot spot is very effective. It isn't very expensive and it is very easy to use. I use it for coffee stains, pet droppings, and other spills and stains.

I'm a mother of 2 and now a grandmother of 2 more and I have found the best is.... bibs, and cotton quilts covering whereever the kids are! They want to eat in front of the tv occassionally, fine - lay out the quilt first! Sit on the couch and eat some Ice cream? Fine, lay out hte quilt first! You are probably asking for more adult reasons, but quite often the same theory applies. Eating chili on the sofa, lay out the quilt! Then just toss it in the washing machine! But again, you are probably talking about isolated spots... well, quilts comei n all sizes! I have not had any luck with spot removers...ergo the quilts!

Don't laugh...I use a shot of men's shaving cream on the spots on my rug. I read that somewhere and tried it. Works pretty good too, even the cheap brands I get at the dollar store. Evidently the glycerine in the shaving cream has something to do with the stain removal. I use a cheap shaving cream that is white, some of them have colored creams, and those are more likely to put a new colored stain onto the carpet.

I bought a can from Walmart before called Hot Shot (I think). It was only a dollar and it took spots off of carpet at an office I clean. I never tried it at home because I had all my carpeting removed. But when I used to have carpet, I used Resolve for High Traffic areas like in front of my door. It worked good too.
