I'd say a singer. I love to sing...but I'm not perfect and I think I can get better with practise. Though I've never learnt Carnatic music, I've listened to my sister learn and I think my voice is more suited for Carnatic vocal. And the reason why I chose singer from the list is because....I'm nowhere close to being good in any of the other options...except maybe writing which I seemed to have lost touch of.

Singer is not a bad choice either. But I firmly believe, that you are good 'writer', who knows very well how to express herself. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Deepak, Coming directly to your query, I think I would like to be an artist, no doubt. In various phases of my life I have wanted to become various things and this included a writer, a poet, a singer, a painter...in fact all of which you have mentioned. As a typical Bengalee, we still have a pair of tabla and a harmonium at home. Its our culture to attend to singing lessons right from childhood days. My mother inculcated the love of music in us. However, I think, I was a better painter and was very good at it and also in handicrafts. I used to bring ace grades in it. People who know me, know how shy I am and that's the reason I was drawn into painting more than singing. The writer in me came out much later in life, as you must be knowing. So, deepak, its very difficult to chose one. I would cleverly choose 'an artist'. The reason being an artist would cover all of which you have stated. You are intrigued right now, isn't it? But I am sure you got my justification right. Thanks. Have a great day. PS: I am sure you would like to be 'a singer', isn't it?

Dearest D, You just made my day with all those appreciation. You always do. Tum thakte nahin ho tarif karte karte? Kaha rakhe hum itna tarif. By the way, I am hoping to open one D's TARIF ACCOUNT which would store your appreciations. And from time to time I will go through it and gather my energy and fervour of living. Idea kaisa hain?

Taarif kartey kartey takney ki to koi baat nahi hai...mainey bilkul sahi-sahi likha thaa...aur merey sahi likheny se kisi ko khushi hoti hai...to mujehy bahut achchaa lagta hai.... Tumhara idea bahut badiya hai...you can open an 'D's Taarif Account' and can deposit all compliments in it...and when you are upset or say when you are required to 'count your blessings' you can withdraw compliments deposited over there, for energising and charging up yourself. :):)

I was expecting this kind of reply from you, because I know that you are undoubtedly a multi-talented person and I admire your qualities very much. I agree with you that the term 'Artist' includes other traits also. An artist can be a painter, writer, poet/poetess and a singer, as well. In fact, I did not know that you are good painter too. There is no question of getting intrigued, because I know you have immense talent and skills. But if you ask me in which field you excell, my straight answer would be - 'as a writer'. You have all the good qualities of being a successful 'writer'. You know how to express yourself effectively and how to make others understand you through your superlative 'words'. I think, everyone cannot have a quality like yours. As far as I am concerned - I was a poor painter, my drawing is not good. Likhna abhi sikh raha huin. Poem bhi likhani nahi aati. Haan gaana ga sakta huin, I agree with your assessment that given the choice, I would like to be a Singer. ++++ rated. Have a great day! :):)

I can draw as you know.I do write and compose poems too.I am an avid listener of music of any kind and I sing like a frog without caring for the torture I inflict upon others. So obviously I would like to be bestowed with some bearable voice.

Alright, now you said to just give one answer, but I would like to just point out that I am already a writer and poet. What I would like to be is a singer. Now mind you, I have a God given talent for the first two. But the third one, well let just say, we can't all be gifted in everything and leave it at that. Now I am very greatful for all of the gifts that God has given me. But, I just love a beautiful song. I do not envy anyone, but, I wish I could belt out a song like Yolanda Adams or Jennifer Holiday, even Whitney Houston. To hear them sing just moves me in a way that makes me long to lift my voice and sing for the Lord. My voice is so bad that I sing through my throat and the only thing that is accomplished is damage to my vocal cords. I know that the Lord said make a joyful noise, but I do not think he intended for us to hurt ourselves in the process. I just want to sing like an angel. Now I know how we are as humans. If I were a singer, I would long to be a writer, or an actor(well actually, I can act), so again I say thank you Lord for the gift of the written word, Amen.

Hi, I always wanted and dreamed of becoming a successful singer. I loved to sing but I did not learn singing. It was a dream since childhood and still I make it a point to watch all the singing talent shown on tv. I really appreciate them and am happy that they are getting such good platforms to explore their singing talent. I just love to hear songs without any music.

I would like to be what I am...a writer. I love writing as a professional because I have a thirst for knowledge and love to share what I discover with others. I also love the photojournalism part of my work because editors often send me on locations to events I might otherwise not have any interest in. My work allows me to meet new and interesting people and to see things from different 'perspectives.' I am self-employed, work from home and love what I do! No other vocation satisfies me the way writing does...and believe me I have had a few! Raia

I would like to be a writer. Although I write poems too, they are most of the times free verses. Writing has come natural to me and I find it very interesting. I believe that I can express myself through written matters and I take utmost care that whatever I write is articulate and interesting to the user. In all, I love writing.

Hello deepak! How come it's been too long since I found this topic?hehehe..Well better late than never. Eversince I was a child, I would always want to become a writer. I would write some english short stories at the age of nine at the back pages of my module. I showed it to my mom and she laughed. I know I have some bad grammars that time..hehehe..

Hello! Aisa! OH! Again you reactivated a very old discussion of mine. Great! It is really great to know that you wanted to be a writer and in fact you attempted to write some short stories when you were just nine years old. What about writing short stores, now a days? I would request you to please go for it and now a days there are various websites, where you can 'write' and post your short stories, take my words, if your stories gets published on a website, it will give you a great amount of satisfaction. All the very best from my end. Many thanks for joining and sharing.

Oh my deepak! You are making me choose on 4 of 5 of my greatest passions. I want to be all those except the singer..lol..and am doing all 4 to the best I can right now...but if I can only have one I guess it would be the writer. I have wanted it since I was a child. I started writing my first "novel" at the age of 10..lol. I have written this and that along the way but have yet to finish one..I have a lot of stories in my mind.

I would like to be a writer, but I love to be a reader. (it is better to read some (non)sense rather than writing some. (purely my personal opinion in lighter vein. Poetry is not my cup of tea, though I read andappreciate. Singing is foreign to me. I am not a painter, but I collect other artists' paintings. I have some 25 paintings all frames and it is simply a valuable collection for me.

Given the choice & the talent, I would like to be a writer. To be able to express one in writing, maybe in fiction & be imaginative, would be exciting. Even if I could write historical works, I would feel fullfilled. I can write a bit, but lack the motivation to go further. My 14 year old daughter wants a degree in english & to be a writer of some sort.

I would love to be a writer, even though by technical terms, I already am. I love writing stories, and am some day planning on trying to get my book published (after I finish it, that is). I would find nothing better than to look at my book, to know I wrote that book, and to know that people are out there reading my book. I love the idea of others getting to enjoy a world that was at one point for me only. I also love the idea of entertaining so many people. It's my dream, in fact. To get something published.
