Ideal Age to Retire

I came up to this question... When do you wish to retire? When ddo you want to settle things out of your life? I mean, what age do you want to work less, not anymore an employee? The time when you have enough earnings to live all through for the rest of your living? Someone could say in age 60's or others may be in their 50's. How about you,a and why?

For me the ideal age to retire would be 50. I married early, have been working since 23, do not have a very successful career so money is always a problem and I have never been able to do everything I wanted. So I am now saving all I can both for our son and ourselves. When I am 50, my son should be around 25 and then hopefully I will have my hands free. I don’t want to work anymore then. I want to relax at home, take a nap when I want to, do some gardening, fool around with the computer, watch TV, read a book, sunbath in my balcony in the early afternoon, go for a vacation whenever I want to…idle dreams maybe, dunno if they will ever come true, but if everything goes OK, then I would like to retire from work at 50.

You are correct, it is an ideal age in your case. We have to give ourselves all the comfort when we retire and hopefully our children will payback our hard labor times when we age.

Thnx for the BR. One thing though…I do not expect my son to pay back, in fact, no parents should EXPECT their children to pay back whatever they have done for them. We bring our children into this world of our own will, not theirs…so looking after them till they are adults is our responsibility too. Expectations have soured many a relation between parents and children, so I don’t want any of that. I want to retire only for myself…I have been working and saving for the future and at 35, I just see no end to it. It has to stop somewhere though!

I plan to work as long as possible. I have seen many people retire and then their health decline rapidly. it probably comes down to activity, but I tend to be lazy anyway.

I think age doesn't matter,it is your capabilities to work and work hard for it.If you are 65 or 70 and you can work like anybody younger than you,and provided your employer wants you to work, then do it.If you retire at the age of 50 or 50 plus, you will weaken considerably.I resign to my work at the age of 41 and after 3 to 4 months without anything to do i became sickly,so i worked again and i regain my strenght.

Well for me, as soon as my kids finished their studies and have their own jobs already. When we have enough resources for me and my wife to live and enjoy life together... no matter if we're on 40's... I would retire. Life is too short and the moment that we are given enough chance to live and enjoy our life... then no time should be wasted. Life is beautiful and a span of life is not enough to see its beauty.

The ideal age to retire is always 60 but if you can still work and you are use to it then you think you can keep it going like a bunny go for it

I think it depends on when I feel I could do - for exampl if I had to work then I would say by about the age of 65 latest but if I was able to get some money saved to have an early retirement then I would say about 55. x
