Dreams, Oh Dreams, How Relevant They Are to You!?

It is still winter here, cold and wet due to rains. Despite the cold, I woke up totally soaked in sweat, from head to toe, as I had struggled a lot in…My Dream! Dreams are filled with our interactions with people we love to people we don’t, reflection of our real life, our open-eyed dreams, desires buried deep in our hearts, and things that can’t be explained in any normal way or fashion. Some think of dreams as a mere reflection of the state of our mind or our real life, to others, they have dimension of their own, i.e. not necessarily attached or related to ‘our own’ real life. Whatever they are, how do YOU think of them? Have you been to some dreamy experiences that were interesting somehow, even if they weren’t related to your life but were true somehow i.e. at least in your perception, where you saw life on a macro-level from a different angle, a different dimension, perhaps!? You don’t need to share your dreams, just your thoughts! Thanks!:-)

hello kamran bro ! hope your friend is fine now :) The mechanics of dreaming are now fairly well understood--the bits of the brain which are activated. It is not, ofcourse known why we dream only that we need to dream beacause dream deprivation is most damaging. In other words Dreams are symolic of your deep inner thoughts and subconsconsious mind.Everything we dream symbolizes wht we love, fear, desire and hate. Dreaming concepts varies with every individual. I dont believe that concepts have fixed meanings from one dreamer to next.I believe its dependent on the dreamer himself/herself.That is to say, concepts in dreams represent felings you have.To interpret the concept, you must ask yourself what feelings those concepts evoke in you,and then figure out what, inreal life, gives you that same feeling.Thats's what the concept represents. If for example, you dream about marriage.what feeling does that evoke in you?fear?trepidation?excitement?worry?longing? Is there anthing in your current life that is causing you that same exact feeling?are u worried about your career path? Deciding betwen two romantic suiters?Expecting to be rejected or proposed to by someone? Wishing and end to your lonelines?Seeking some kind of committed answers from someone regarding some logn term project?Whatver is going on in your life right now that is causing you that same emotional turmoil or ambivalence or excitement or feeling is what the concepts in dream represent. Dreams are effective if one believes in them and or follows the.In general anything is going to effect your life if you will it...it is the power of human mind. Like wise some dreams dont have much meaning! some people have wierd ones and they do as a result have an effect on their lives as they are overly cautious when approaching situtaions that they have dreamed about. This should be avoided i guess even though i dont take my dreams on me :) But if i have good ones then all da day a smile appears on ma face :D.lol but if i had a bad one then i just ignore it by saying that was just a dream take it easy. I just cant digest a fact that is very true that people oftem find meaning in their dreams, but its is up to you to look for it.If nothing else, examining your dreams for clues to how you feel about your life,or issues in your life can prompt you to think about things that are going on in your life and seek resolution. well that was a bit boring discussion on what dreams are and do they really affect our lives :)

Hello UBiquitous!:-) That is a very well thought out response filled with a lot to learn from, I really appreciate your thoughts on the subject. Plus, I see that you have become much more methodical, structured and better in presentation of your views which shows that you are a very intelligent individual!:-) “In other words Dreams are symolic of your deep inner thoughts and subconsconsious mind.Everything we dream symbolizes wht we love, fear, desire and hate.” That seems to be very true, indeed! You also seem to be right about dreams being of individual nature in the sense that they are derived from real life experiences, even though partially. Your presented questions are intriguing and the ones one should ask of oneself for understanding of dreams. Yes, Dreams can be meaningful and they can be without meaning, just weird or haphazard (perhaps there is something to it too). There is certainly a reason to connect between dreams and real life i.e. rather to worry about dreams one should see for what they ought be doing right! I have experienced too that what I am seeing, I have seen it before somewhere but don’t know where and I guess it is a common observation of people, for some, more and for others less! Thank for sharing your experiences with dreams and day dreaming too as well as other amazing facts about dreams. Those were really interesting!:-) It wasn’t boring, your views are very interesting!:-)

well..now its time to have some humour :) well let me tell you about my funny dreams and how i take it but before that i must tell iam not a firm believer on dreams that whatver i have seen in dreams must be as it is true,i bleive in them a bit as my religion also permits me to do that so. But the fact is you just have to take the right meanings of your dream, what happens to me actually is whatever i see in the dream its opposite happens dont know but most of the people say that whtever u will see in dreams you will getits opposite:) ..in Todays world all this seem to be superficial and to me as well sometymes but still i believe that whtever is going to happen with us all is in dreams. Have u noticed some time that an action is being done and u feel like u have seem this place of this thing or that person before than today? This happens to i gues every person of the world with me too...sometimes we feel the scene which is happening right now is repeated one and i have seem all dis happening some where else as wel :) those are dreams which we dotn remember.:) Lemme tell u an interesting thing :) I am a damn music lover k :) ..before sleeping at night i put on my headset and listen to my favourite songs and while the songs are playing on i get asleep mostly. Sometimes i hear them in dreams, and its at exactly normal speed, although the lyrics may be oddly different and the volume may be substantially higher or lower ..lol D: ..seems funny na :) Em sort of day dreaming as well, but in day dreaming most of the time my mind works for both the thing which i am imaginging and with the current scenario as well.mostly i am havin day dreaming during the boring lecture of "fibre science" class,,and guess what at the end the lecture is also in ma mind but nit clearly as it is and the thing i was imagining is also in my mind. When i get bored..in my imaginations i start toking to people u know?(i know poeple call it madness but this is the way i am :D )..i start talking to them in imaginations and when i meet to those persons i feel like i have told or talked to them all those things in real :D ..and most of the time my friendz are annoyed when they got to know things which were supposed to be tell earlier but i have told them imaginations so this is obviously not gonna cause them trouble sometime :D i guess that was more than enough about my dreaming and day dreaming as well..will be waitin for all your comments :)

and yes i forgot to tell you some amazing facts about dream which i heard from some other source or got to know from friendz as well, would like to share as well :) 1-u know that u cant dream and snore together lol D: 2-many animals dream as well, what they dream about is a mystery. 3-if people are prevented to have dreams then this can lead to personality discorders and psycological problems. 4-(my fav fact)...Even blind persona have dreams too.the blind persons who were initially sighted sometimes contains visual images but the persons who are blind by birth do not.Vision is not the only component of a dream, however dreams contain sounds, sights, smells and touch sensations . 5-This one is for the men out there lol D: Men most often dream about other men, while women tend to dream about men and women equally.

I had this sream and i think its kinda wierd, I have been fond og watching Coffee prince the korean show and I guess i fell in love witht he male lead star. Then while I was having my 15 minute break I dremaed of the guy, we were holding hands and when he turned to my surprise it was the face of the close friend that I have here. I was really shocked to learn that, and its awkward coz he is the big brother type and just a big brother to me. What do you think the dream means? I hope you can help me with it. Have a nice day and happy mlotting!

Hello Zelmarq, You do seem to see interesting dreams. I am not an expert of any kind in interpreting dreams as such. I think one shouldn't take them too much real. But, it is reasonable to say that maybe you have some corner for your friend. Ask yourself and talk to your friend here. You may work out what it is. I wish you best of luck! And, thanks for sharing!:-)

night - night dreams
I pay really close attention to my dreams. For some reason I always believe that we are "crossing" during the night. By crossing I mean getting into different dimension and level where we can read other people and nature itself. We can see future and past in the fraction of seconds.

hi kamran. I dont think the same way you do. I think dreams are just that, dreams. cause none of mine that i can remember anyways typically make any sense to me whatsoever! On the rare occation i will have one that is realisitic, but usually just a creative output of my subconcious ;)

I'm one of those people who don't often remember my dreams. A lot of times I will wake up knowing that I have dreamed a lot the night before but can't remember anything about them. A few rare times I do remember bits of them, but they always don't make sense and somehow seem to be related to the things I am experiencing in my waking hours. My conclusion at the moment is that they are just bits and pieces of random info my brain process at night :)

Hello scammerwear!:-) It's good to see you!:-) It happens to me too that I'll forget what I saw in my dream and I don't take them much seriously, but I do get curious though! You are also seem to be right that most times they are randomly processed info of brain by activation of sub-conscious! For some they are quite meaningful and real too! Thanks for sharing!:-)

Sometimes sadness is not always that bad,I think. What do you think? When you are deep in something that you don't think is nice or something that hurt you,you will think a lot about it and will find a better way to solve your problem next time.

In my experience and personal reflections, I have found that my dreams shows my fears that I tend to suppress while awake. As a child, I dream of a lot of scary things and even of monsters I see in the movies. Most of the time I see myself of running from monsters and I realized that I keep on avoiding those things that makes me comfortable while growing up. I always tried to find a place to hide in my dreams to avoid the monsters and in real life, I was hiding myself from the world because I was too shy and I found that being with people and even friends just stresses me so much that all I wanted to do was stay im my room and read and loose myself in escapist reading. There was also a time that I keep on dreaming that I am always flying and most of the time it went beyond my control and I just flew up and up. It came out that I have this restlessness and great desire to be alone and just be myself and be independent. It stopped when I lived away from home for more than 7 years and lived alone. Then I was able to really spread my wings. I keep moving from one city to another almost every year and it somehow satisfied my yondering spirit.

Hello cdparazo, There does seem to be a connection with our attitude towards life and what we see in dreams. Many scientific studies have verified this connection. Thinking of what kinds of dreams one sees, one can arrive at that conclusion as well. You seem to have pretty good understanding of how to relate things and learn from it. Of course realization and diagnosis is the first step towards correction and cure. I am glad you found yours!:-) Thanks for sharing!:-)

Have answered my feeling on dreams in a few discussions now,so guess I am not going to enlighten those whom may have viewed the discussions,I will give my view of dreams once again however for the benefit of those who have not.The subconscious mind when a dream is very clear, one that stays with you,is wishing you to address an issue in your life,to help you.The mixed up dreams which do not make any sence, are disjointed memories, like a jigsaw puzzle being emptied onto a table.Usually of past events, days activities, etc, and are to my thought the subconscious minds way of clearing debri,as one would do with a puzzel with pieces missing, throw it out.One can discover a great deal about different issues in their life by simply spending a little time in reflection.

Foot Note: The subconscious mind speaks to us in symbols. It is for us to try to interpret what they represent re:our experiences.

Dreams ..fill up the void in your life. They are so sweet that you would wish them to come true. But alas ! dreams are never realised and dreams stay as dreams with an aura of mystery holding above their heads.

Dreams are proofs for the fact that in our brains, there is not only the intelect, the conscient part that works, but there is also a subconscient and an unconscient that are really active. Dreams do not come from "outer worlds" or "outer dimensions", but from our own intelect. Let me bring just one simple ARGUMENT for that... There are a lot of things we are perceiving consciously during, let's say, a walk in a park...But a lot more come into our knowledge, our aware, during that walk, things that are not considered that interesting for us to process consciously, like the fall of a leaf, people sitting on a bench, and so on...but they are things we perceive with our senses, and do come into our knowledge...Well, all these things pass directly into our subconscious and mix in the huge unconscient we possess. When could these things we unawarely perceieved activate? Of course, when the conscient is not working, in our sleep...but the brain does not sleep with it...there is a much bigger part, with mere or zero rules of logic and sense...Subconscient and Unconscient that give our dreams.

Hello klaudyou, You are spot on about sub-conscience and unconscious playing enhanced role while conscience is on leave! I did not really say 'outer' world or dimension but the 'different' dimension which is not related to 'our own' real life. And, you are very right and quite observant about things that go to our sub-conscious and come out to play on its own terms while we sleep. Thank you for sharing interesting dimensions!:-)

Sweet friend, I'm so sorry you had a bad dream! To wake up like that, bathed in sweat, knowing you had struggled in your dream, is awful, and if I were there, I would cool your brow, and brush back your hair, and soothe you. ;-) Ah, well, some dreams are so lovely, though. (giggle) I am a very active dreamer, Kamran. I have wild and terrible dreams sometimes, that frighten me beyond belief, and I tend to act out, and kick, or strike out, and often will talk, or shout or scream in my dreams. My poor husband has suffered many a sleepless night because of them. But he is a wonder, and wakes me gently from these night terrors, and comforts me until I can sleep again. I think that dreams like those are hereditary. My mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother all had dreams like that, but they seemed to subside once they got older, somewhere in their sixties or so. It would appear that I have a while to wait, then. But I also have wonderful dreams, fantastical, and beautiful, and always, always, I have music in my dreams. Every morning, without fail, I awake with a song playing in my brain, from somewhere in my dreams. That's one part I love, that song in my head. Sometimes, though, they can be the oddest songs, ones that I don't even like, and that I would never listen to in my real life. Strange, but true. I'm always singing something though - when I'm around, there will be singing heard, whether it's pleasant to one's ears or not, there will be singing. I am of the philosophy that whether or not you can "sing", if you enjoy it and get pleasure from it, and have enthusiasm for it, you should just go ahead and do it. It's so good for the soul, I truly believe. But, back to the dreams, I often hear people say that they don't dream. They DO dream, they just don't remember their dreams. Everyone dreams, it's not possible to not dream, I think. Ever have one of those dreams that you really want to get back into, but can't? And it's always those dreams that you want to forget, to go away from, that you always go back into, for me, it is, at least. Every so often, I'll get to go back into a good dream that I want to continue, but not often enough, I'm afraid. but I love my dreams, I love having them, and I love the inspiration they can bring. Good discussion, Kamran, as always. Thank you, my friend.

Hello novataylor, my friend!:-) You are so nice and soothing already, nova!:-) Life is generally full of struggle and I like facing it head on. So, it’s natural that I’ll have struggle in dreams too. However hard it is, I love the fact that I didn’t escape and that’s refreshing in itself, so no worries!:-) Your husband seems to be a truly gentle soul. It’s interesting that you should bring the hereditary effect which is quite plausible. I haven’t thought of that though! On a couple of occasions, in our married life when we are together, my wife has reported that I talked while dreaming. She didn’t wake me up though and when I asked why, she said that it was so exquisite that she will be a fool to wake me up. Of course it was about her but she never told me what exactly it was, saying that it will dilute the charm. Yes, she can be weird too in her reasoning! Lovely side of your dreams is totally understandable given that how wonderful a person you are. I too like singing for my partner and whether or not it is good as per standards, she likes it and that’s what matters, to me!:-) I too tend to think that it is impossible for a living soul not to have dreams. Like you, I always think that they just don’t remember when they say that they don’t have dreams. You also seem to be right about re-dreaming those things that we like less or don’t like at all. I have developed insomnia ever since my partner left but I have fallen asleep three times since last night and I am seeing the same dream in episodes, next starting from where I left the last time! LOL! I hope to have the last part when I sleep again, let’s see! I hope to end it the way I desire and it has already started to seem going that way in last episode, LOL! Thank YOU for being a part of my discussion and sharing!:-)

sometimes they means alot and sometimes they mean nothing! Sometimes the message is that vague or weird that you dont know what's going on after you wake up and some are easy to work out.
