Do You Recycle?

Do you recycle on a regular basis? If so, is it picked up curbside along with your garbage? Do you have to pay extra to have a recyle bin? Or do you have to save up and take your items to a local recyling collection area? In the town I lived in before, we had curbside recycling pickup and it didn't cost anything extra. The company that picked up the items made their money off recycling what we donated. Where I live now, they charge $4.00 a month to pick it up. We do it anyway, because we think it's the right thing to do. I've noticed very few people in my neighborhood recycle. Where I lived before EVERYONE put out a recycle bin. What's it like in your town?

Go Green - The universal symbol for recycling!
We have pick up service every other week for plastic, cardboard, glass, aluminum and other commonly recycled items. They have special teams that go around and check to make sure you are actually recycling; if they catch you tossing recyclables out with regular trash you get a huge fine.

Wow, you actually get a fine? I guess that is one way to make sure everyone it doing it. I wish they'd do something here to encourage more people to recycle. I guess I'm just surprised that $4.00 a month keeps people from doing it here.

A bit of both really, our paper card old magazines plastic bottles etc can be put in the bin and collected for free but glass and metal have to be taken to the nearest recycling bin

Ours will pick up cardboard if we break it down and set it beside the bin. They also take glass. We're doing some remodeling and one of the new windows got broke as it was being installed. I broke it up into small pieces and put it in a bucket beside my bin and they took that too. I know they take aluminum, but I'm never sure if I should also be putting the cans from canned food in the bin. I guess I should try and see what they do. I guess those are made from tin aren't they?

I am shy to tell you that people in our town don't recycle. Recycling is not common in China. Most people throw out their things mixed with trash and food waste. There is no any recycling collection area or recycle bin. It is bad for enviroment and health. A lot of people in China sell their paper like magazines, newspapers, books and glasses like bottle to people who gabage the collection.

My area is a bit backwards when it comes to recycling. There is no curbside service at all. I would gladly pay $4.oo a month! Instead I take my paper to drop off dumpsters for recycling. The other items can only be taken to recycling centers that are so far away that the fuel consumption and cost negates the benefit.
