I know there are a lot of us who love to cook and try to think up of new inspirations on what to fix especially for dinner. And even those who are cooking "challeneged" might enjoy two cooking websites that I belong too. One is AllRecipes, and you can even have a "virtual" type recipe file there of recipes you liked saved to your file. You can also sign up for their daily "recipe of the day" and get it in your email Here's the link to AllRecipes http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Main.aspx For instance the recipe of the day is Simply Parmesan Chicken The other great recipe place for everything imaginable is Food411.com and you can also sign up for there newsletter http://www.food411.com/ So how many of you knew of these recipe places or do you often go to a recipe/cooking type website to get ideas for meals?

I knew about AllRecipes. I even have a cookbook from AllRecipes which, I think I had the cookbook first and then found the website. I didn't know about Food411 though. I'll have to check it out. Another one is www.meals.com and, while I haven't been there for a while, I think they have a virtual recipe box too. I have tons of cookbooks and, I get Cooking Light Magazine. I even have a folder where I keep the printouts from recipes from websites and ones torn from magazines. I actually need a bigger kitchen so I can have a better place to put my cook books! LOL! Right now they are using up cupboard space that I could use for other kitchen related stuff. LOL!

You sound like me cortjo73....I have TONS of cookbooks in the shelves of my kitchen cabinets and just had recently as part of my spring cleaning thing rearranged all my cookbooks...I also managed to get rid of though a lot of recipe cards...I had TOO many of them and I had them for years and never, ever used so figured they were just taking up space that I could otherwise use..so out they went and don't regret it--I have PLENTY of cookbooks to fall back on...LOL And wow..that recipe for the chicken sounds fantastic!! I love paprika and love bell peppers

Hey Pye! If I remember, I will try to find out what that other spice is that I use. I actually think it was one of the Mrs. Dash blends but, I can't remember for sure. It could have been the Chicken blend or it might have been the Tomato Basil Garlic Blend. If I figure it out, or if I remember to look in my cupboard for which one it might have been, I will find this discussion again and let you know. It really was good and that smoked paprika was what did it I think. It just added the perfect blend of smokiness to it! If I remember or get it figured out, and you try it...let me know what you think about it! Also, I am glad to hear that you got your recipe center all cleaned up! Sheesh! I really need to do that! I think I just need to set aside an hour a day to start organizing all of it. I doubt I would throw any of them away but, there are some recipes that I tore out of a magazine that I set aside to try and haven't yet. I could, and should, start by sorting through those and perhaps tossing some of them. Also, I have a couple stacks of Cooking Lights that I should go through and get rid of after I pull any of the potential recipes to try. LOL! Whew! What a task that will end up being. It would take me at least a full 24 hour day to get most of that done, I think! LOL!

Curious...do they pay people for recipe ideas??? I have a number I could post too, but yikes, you haven't heard in three years.???? I just wrote an article for Associated Content for what to do with leftover Beef Stew or Chicken a la King...make pot pies...I hadn't made them in ages myself but did tonight as I had some leftover Chicken a la King..so pot pie I made out of it..forgot how good that tasted!

NO they dont pay for the recipe you submit that is how i understand it it is just a community of free recipe i guess. that's cool that you do stuff like that for left overs, i have never tried to do it coz my hubby dont seem to like pot pie whenever i mention it to him and most of the i base the food i am making from his preferences coz he is kinda picky LOL... i wish there is a place that pays for the recipe you make unfortunately i am not aware of any. takecare!

Thanks for sharing these sites! I am always looking for new ways to cook foods. I am one of the ones who love to cook, but I love to try new foods and cook new things. I like to have a variety instead of the same old thing all of the time.

One thing I loved was when I found a recipe at Allrecipes for pancakes...I used to have a recipe card for "fluffy pancakes"...probably the best recipe around for homemade pancakes..sadly over the years I don't have a clue where it disappeared too....so the other night out of curiosity I hunted at allrecipes and there was a recipe exactly like the one I used to have..thank goodness!!!

I had to chuckle when I read cooking challeneged. I am in that group. . I have never been over enthused about cooking. Now since I married my husband I don't exactly dread cooking but if he suggestes we go out to eat I am the first one at the door ready to leave to go to a restaurant. I went to the links you put here and like the sites. I have put them in a file folder here on the computer. If I lived by myself I would never cook but since I love my husband the chore of cooking does not seem so bad now. Also since my husband is not a picky eater that makes it easier.

I have to admit now that I live alone, I'm not as "fussy" about cooking either, not like I used to be when both my grandmother and mother were alive and did all my real fancy smanchy cooking, but heck even though I'm alone now I like to have a really good meal and just can't get away from my rather "disciplined" cooking behavior. In fact tonight I fixed something for myself I hadn't made in ages...a chicken pot pie...yikes I forgot how great that tasted...hehe

In all my years of cooking do you know I've never used bisquick? If I make biscuits or pancakes completely from scratch...my one friend uses Campbells Cheddar Soup to make her mac & cheese, but to me has an "odd" taste to it, so make mine one hundred percent homemade...na, na, na, na, nah Hey I wonder it there are cat recipe sites...{pyewacket turns to her cat, Pyewacket and Kissy and asks...do you know if there are any cat recipe websites?--she doesn't get an answer but she swears she sees a smile on their faces}

I use bisquick for pot pies and biscuits but that's bout it. I gotta have my mac 'n' cheese from scratch or it's just not right to me. Yes there are lots of cat recipe sites on the web. Pye and Kissy should know this. Tigger pointed it out to me one day. He brought up the list of links and gave me a look like " ok mom, start making me some treats like you do for Domingo".

I've used allrecipes and really like that site. I bookmarked the other one. I go quite often to find recipes I need. I had a very large cookbook collection I got rid of before I moved. It seems like I can find anything I need on the internet and those cookbooks weren't being used much as anything other than reading material. I kept a few of the ones I loved and use. Another site I like is the Taste of Home - I used to get that magazine.

Thanks for the tip. I think these site are really good and can help me a lot in my quest for a good recipe for my hubby's meal. I am a new wife and homemaker and I do need this from time to time because I don't want to bore my hubby with the same dish over and over again. Thanks again.

There used to be one I'd use called Recipe Source - it had so many darned recipes!! I mean, 10s of thousands. Then there is Cooks.com as well and AllRecipes.com. I've gone to so many, but I also subscribe to several from Yahoo Groups, the best of which is Nancy's Kitchen, a daily newsletter written by Nancy Rogers who suffers from muscular dystrophy. She has two wonderful cats (she calls them her staff - they are Siggy and Ditto). Ditto is extremely intelligent and she has trained him to help her when she needs it. She has subscribers from throughout the world.

I usually use Better Homes and Gardens or make up something, but occasionally I will just do a search on a particular kind of food and check out recipes found on various sites to see which looks best. Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

Hi pyewacket! I am the chef at home so I am responsible for our daily menu. haha..I seek the help of the internet on that sometimes especially when I am holding dinners for hubby's friends or families or associates. But oftentimes, I rely on my cookbook. Thanks for sharing those links and I will surely be checking on them. I have already bookmarked the links. Thanks. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

I don't use receipes as whenever I try them no one ends up liking the food and I have just wasted time and money to fix the stuff. I just make what I had already known from stuff I was raised how to cook. I wish my family would try new things but they are just not like that.

These sound like really interesting web sites so I will definately go and have a look at them. I do like to cook when I get the chance, my son does too. I had never heard of these places before, but there again I have never really looked for any before. I usually get my ideas from my local supermarket as they have a free magazine once a month with loads of good recipes in, they do a lot for quick meals too when people have not got much time to cook which is ideal for me.

Pyewacket, these are brilliant ideas. I never even thought to look up receipes on the internet. I just do what I can with what I have got and as I get no complaints I'm happy. I will save these links and have a look at them later. Great idea, thanks for sharing these with us!
