I love, love, love this movie. This is one of my favorite films. A movie about hope and redemption, of bonding and friendship, of purpose and fortitude, this movie touched me greatly. Well acted, well directed, I can watch this movie over and over. It was never preachy, but the message was powerful. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman gave award-winning performances. Another excellent movie made out of Stephen King's writing. If you enjoyed this, you might want to check out The Green Mile, another Stephen King inspired movie.

That's one of the best movies ever made, in my opinion. I've seen it several times and it's very long but didn't seem so long at all. I love Tim Robbins and adore Morgan Freeman and anything written by Stephen King is guaranteed to be a masterpiece. Annie

I have seen the movie The Shawshank Redemption and it is an awesome movie, with an awesome plot, and I love the climax also, and I think the actors in the movie did a more than excellent job,and I think they should somehow make a sequel to the The Shawshank Redemption cause I would defintally watch it and I am sure that alot of other people would too.

hmmm... i am a prison break fanatic. i watched the series and bought the compiled dvd version of it. then one time my sister's hubby brought home the shawshank redemption and was saying like prison break got their ideas from the shawshank redemption. so even though it wasn't the one of latest movies, my hubby and i got to watch it. it just amazed me that several of the scenes from prison break, well for me, did got the idea from shawshank redemption. we would even state hey i saw that in prison break. so now, am also a fanatic of shawshank redemption. it was an instant classic for me!!!

Yes this is an amazing film..perhaps mostly because it is a Stephen King adaptation that wasn't ruined. In my opinion film has been cruel to King's writing, it's difficult to translate. Usually his less fantastic stories fare better. Yes Green Mile is very good. I would also recommend Stand By Me, which you can probably pick up on DVD for $5. It's a good story with some good actors and I enjoyed seeing it again recently. I guess I'm impressed by the casts performance because they were all so young. Can anyone else name a SK adaptation that you liked as a movie? Misery wasn't too bad, or Delores Clairborn, but some were really horrible. The Stand was okay but it's too long. I really hated the adaptation of It. Not a big fan of The Shining with Jack Nicolson, but the made for TV version was actually not bad. Does anyone remember Rose something, Rose Red, Rose Matter, it was a for tv one, I have just a vague ghost of a memory of that one.
