Ideas.

Do any of you out there have ideas for future tattoos that you want? I have all kinds running through my head. First of all, I want to finish my animal-themed sleeve and incorporate my veganism into it. Maybe have a pig cooking up some nice human hotdogs (or should I say weiners?) okay, that one needs some more thought, I admit... I have another one designed out already. It's a Maneki Neko version of one of my kitties. Very cute. I also want to get a "Molly Jesus" Let me explain, it's ME with long hair, some sandals, the whole jesus deal... with a joint in one hand, right? and some tofu or radishes or carrots (or other food-item yet to be determined) in the other... you know, I am my own God kind of thing. Oh yeah, now THAT'S narcissism. (No, I am not kidding.) Your turn.

Hi wooitsmolly, Well, tattoos aren't something that I'd be inclined towards - a bit too permanent for my liking. Each to their own, I suppose. No harm in it - we all end up as worm food in the fullness of time. And it's more personal than jewelery - you can't take jewelery with you (I never noticed before - jewelery is spelled like celery). As for the vegan protest theme, from a spectator perspective there's probably more to be said for beautifying your body with images of real foods than debasing it with satirical pictures of butchery. The tattoos will endure forever, even if the problems that they are meant to confront fade out and pass away. Might be worth considering. Not that any opinion was invited, but there it is.

Hi again, Thanks for the pointer on jewelery. I started out thinking it was spelled jewellery - but the myLot spell-check complained. Then I tried jewelery, and myLot seemed happy. Foolishly, I accepted myLot's call on it - have no clue what dictionary myLot is using. Anyway, from the Penguin English Dictionary, both jewelry and jewellery are considered correct spelling - I'd guess the former is American and the latter British English. Maybe one more reason to wear tattoos instead - no ambiguity there.

Addendum - you might like to put a Unicorn in there somewhere. They apparently became extinct sometime after the Great Flood, but in the words of the mystic Catherine Emerich, they were exceedingly placid and gentle creatures, smaller than a horse, and with a shorter, rounder face. And if there's any room left over, you might be able to squeeze a Dodo in there too. Dodos might have been flightless, but they were much more elegant and graceful creatures than the typical 18th Century paintings suggest. Just thoughts, but thoughts can be useful things.

Actually, it is funny you mention that because I have plans of getting a unicorn tattoo one day... and that is actually true.

A picture of my ankle tattoo redone. - This is a picture of the tattoo on my ankle that I just recently got redone. I love it! It is a clover with celtic designs that turn into a cross.
I just got my ankle redone and a cover up outline on my arm - they are finishing the coloring on the 21st. My ankle use to be just a clover with a 69 around it (no I am not a Cancer) so my friend (a wonderful tattoo artist) redid the clover and made the 69 turn into some swirly things and added some celtic design to the top and bottom which turned into a cross. And on my arm, I have a jesture which we are covering up with some lily's. The outline is beautiful - I can't wait till he colors it!! Sometime in the future, I will be getting some butterflies that go from the small of my back all the way to the top. It will probably be like a bunch of them taking flight up my back. And I also will get my son's name (and any future children) tattoo'd as well but I am waiting a bit on that till we decide (till my husband makes up his mind) if we are going to have any more. It had been almost 13 years since I got my tattoo's done and I had forgotten how addictive it is!

The outline of the cover up on my arm. - This will be two lily's with some type of a design on the top and bottom of them, when they are done. The bigger lily will be purple but I am having trouble deciding what colors to do the other lily and then the colors on top and bottom...

here's the lillies with color - can't wait till th - work in progress! but they are coming to life now. the old tattoo is almost gone!
Here are the progress pictures - just got the color done last night, we still have a little bit more to go on the flowers (two and a half hours was all I could take last night) and we have the top and bottom of the design to go...

Those lillies are going to be really pretty when they are finished. LOL at the little guy underneath. My mom has a mouse giving the same gesture on her back... lol. I think since you are already doing on lilly purple, the other would look really nice with a deep pink color. Post pictures when it's finished if you can!!

I'm not much into the tattoo thing--at least for me. I have seen some beautiful ones that I really admired, however. Since you are open to opinions, let me state that the ones you have listed above are not in good taste as far I am concerned. While I am for people having and expressing their own opinions about things, I dislike having them rubbed in my face, so to speak. I think there are more tactful ways to communicate my beliefs and there are more beautiful tattoos with which to decorate. Like the picture you included!

I am waaaay to much of a wuss to ever get a tattoo. I know, I know people tell me it doesn't hurt THAT bad to which I change my response to "W"uss... nuf said. But I enjoy hearing your plans for yours. A Maneki Neko of your cat, very cute. And the Molly Jesus is so YOU. I admit that my first thought was one of being sacreligious until I remembered your atheist beliefs. Makes me laugh at how absolutely fitting it is for you. But, can I just say that the vegan one for sure needs more thought. You are a bright girl and I think there is a better statement to be made than that one. I hope I don't offend.

I'd love to get a tattoo, but I haven't because I can't find anything I want! I figure if it's going to be permanent, it has to be something symbolic and not cutesy or frivolous. I was aiming for my 40th birthday, but now I'm aiming for 50! You certainly do have some unusual but creative ideas! Mine will be boring by comparison!

I would go with the kitty, lol. No thank you, I do not have any tattoos nor plan to get any. It was a major enough step when my ears got pierced, and probably had I to do it over again I would not have. I am not a high-maintenance person. You heard about those guys up in Michigan who killed a couple guys and then hacked them up and fed them to the pigs. Apparently pigs are not vegan. Cows are, though, unless they are fed that stuff with the ground up diseased sheep bones in it. If I were a cow and somebody fed me that I would be mad, too. Yeah, in college I wrote a poem about a female Jesus and what kind of hair do she would have worn. The lit instructor got all bent out of shape. Lemme tell you he was NOT amused.

The only one that I have in mind right now is the one I already told you about with my kids names. Either going down my side or spine. I have tons of ideas for my husband! I just wish he would choose the career field he is going into after he retires from the Air Force in 8 years. He has an ugly one on his shoulder that he got when he was 18. It is all faded and they did a bad job to begin with. We want it covered with something better but it is going to cost a fortune! I found a really cool dragon eye that would fit over it but it will cost $400. He also wants to get our children's names tattooed somewhere. He already has mine on his upper arm. He is thinking of having them scrolling around his arm. We haven't decided. A small something on the side of his neck would be hot. But he may decide to stay in medicine and though he would love to get something like that, he would need to look "professional." We'll see.

Your really scaring me now, molly. Have all the tats you want but not me. The only 'tats' on my body are the scars from previous injuries. I'm not into that kind of pain. lol

My next one is going to be finishing off my chest piece. Right now I have a pair of Norse runes, which are sort of as far apart on my chest as they can get, almost at my shoulders. Well, they're the same height, but not the same width, so my chest is off center. :) So to finish it, I'm going to get an assymetrical spiral of blue sort of stardust, trailing across to my right shoulder, where I will eventually be getting Starry Night as a half sleeve. There will also be some yellow stars mixed in with the blue stardust, including at least one nautical star in shades of yellow. My half sleeves will eventually be Dali's melting clocks on my left arm and Starry Night on my right arm, and if I extend those to full sleeves, I will have the clocks melting into fish and frogs on my left forearm, and more of the stardust and stars continuing down my right arm. I'm also going to have one leg for butterflies and dragonflies, and the other leg for fish. I just haven't quite figured out the details on those yet. :)

Oh SO many plans! I like all of your plans, and of course LOVE the "Molly Jesus" (Mollesus? Mesus? Mejiah?) ... anywho... My main plan is for a huge back-piece, going all the way horizontally and halfway vertically that basically encompasses my life, my experiences, things that I have overcome, in a beautiful kind of fairytale landscape. I want a flowing river and if possible a waterfall, I want someone representing myself (in a kind of Grecian gown) in the water, or by the water's edge, and I need to be reading or nearby a book, with some of its pages in a whirlwind, and from somewhere around me, a phoenix rising, soaring into the clouds, I want trees and toadstools and fairies and heaps of animals, and mountains and timepieces and musical notes and yeah... a kind of utopian land. It has a lot of symbolism, but at the same time, I want other people and myself to just see the beauty of a gorgeous picture. I also want a lot of these features in individual tattoos around my body. I want special symbolic pictures for the people in my life and the ways that we are tied together - lady beetles for my mum, frogs for my sister, wolves and clocks for my dad and so on. I already have my Celtic cross in memory of my grandmother, but butterflies and water are also our connection. I also have a tree design that might become my next tattoo, that holds orbs at various places throughout the branches, and the orbs are coloured to represent the colours of my loved ones. I have a real thing for trees and for having beautiful dedications to my friends and family on my body. I also really want just a large, thick-outlined circle on my mid-lower back, comfortably under my landscape. I saw it on a post-cardy thing once, and I just loved the way it suited this lady's body. Stunning. And many more. And I'm broke. But as you know, I have tattoo connections, so where it can, that'll get me by =P

I only have one tattoo right now and ever since then I have been wanting another one so bad, just haven't been able to save the extra money. I am really considering doing a family crest as my next tattoo. I found one that I liked and it has a motto in Latin that translates into something cool but for the life of me I can't remember what it is right now. "Invictus Maneo" or something. But anyways that will probably be my next and then when I have children I will put their names around it.

I don't want a tattoo, I feel that whatever I get I will end up regretting and I don't think they look very appealing anyhow and I am afraid of needles.
