When the Drought breaks, will we be worse off?

I would appreciate a lot of responses to this, as it will help my daughters assignment. Please include factual info where possible, relevant links, etc. The question she needs to consider, with opposing views is this: "When the drought breaks, will farmers, landowners & even city people, be worse off initially?" Issues to consider are flooding, rotting in crops, unseasonal watering, etc.

hi jennybianca, Here in my country Philippines suffering from drought in rice one of our basic needs. The reason is farm where diverted into a subdivision for real estate, a railroad and minings. Worse came to worse when drainage open during typhoons and flushes away our rice granary. Now we are importing rice from other countries. See that?

That is a good example of the problem with floods. Do you know that pour states rice crop was destroyed when the drought got worse?

True. Somehow our government is trying hard to restore back the lost fields since this is our staple food.

I wouldn't be much help to you pal as we have never had a real drought her in Scotland , It must be really hard , xx
