Chocolate Variety is the Sweetness of Life or the Loss of Self-Esteem?

I've become a jaded chocolate consumer over the years, and it has gotten expensive. Once I was on my own, I indulged myself in eating things that used to be treats frequently--I'm lucky not be very heavy yet, but I'm still in my twenties, and it's something I worry about for the future. It's gotten more expensive to have the chocolate addiction I do, because while I used to indulge with regular candy bars, the appeal wore off with overconsumption. I started eating Lindt chocolates, Russel Stover, Whitman's, and other more expensive brands. Let me stress again how lucky I am not to be unhealthily overweight yet--at twenty-seven I no longer have the "eat anything you want" metabolism that I did a few years ago. Who else out there is a compulsive junk-food over-eater? Is there anyone who started to gain weight and then managed to have the self-discipline to overcome the habit?

I don't think chocolate is junk food although it might actually turn to junk if the body cannot metabolize it for some reason or other. I like chocolate and I would eat it without thinking of consequences if there were plenty of it. Fortunately, it is quite expensive and that has preserved its status with me as premium treats rather than junk food. Cheers!!
