Do you like aerial photography?

My house from the air - The internet now enables us to get unusual views of our houses and offices

I am fascinated by the sight of places I know from the air. It used to be that you would have to look at books published with these photos but the internet now makes it possible to see some really great pictures of the places you are familiar with. Google Maps, Google Earth, Microsoft, they are all at it. Personally I like multimap.com which allows you to search on a zip or postcode and then choose map, aerial or 'birds eye view'. Birds Eye View is great and I have extracted a small part showing my house. If you like maps and photos you'll love this.

I have a satellite photo of the area I live in. It was printed in my local newspaper and it was taken on the very day I moved into my home here. Luckily it was a bright day with not much cloud so I can pick out the road I live on but it is taken from such a height I can't see individual buildings. I once found a book about railways in the north of England and on one of the photos in the book, which showed a section of track from the air, I could pick out the house where I grew up, and the surrounding area which was so familiar to me when I was young. I agree with you it is fascinating to look at aerial photographs. I also enjoy looking at maps. I will try out multimap. Thanks for the info.

This photo was so detailed I could tell just when it was taken. We had built the summer house in the garden but not the greenhouse and the hawthorn blossom was in full bloom so it must have been June 2007. I can also make out my present car at the front on one of the other angle views. It is just fascinating.

It is always interesting to see places you know from the sky. Puts a different perspective to things. We found pictures of our house during the last floods back in 1999, and couldn't believe how close our house came to being under water! We are pretty high up the side of a hill, so must have been a very big flood!

I do like it and I don't like it. It helps for friends, but it can also help for criminals. I rather keep my privacy. In the other hand, never been easier to find my friends new houses and business locations.

I love aerial photography!!! I think it's so cool! Unfortunately the only experience I've had with aerial photography is taking photos out of the windows of commercial airplanes. But I would love to rent a plane for a day or something and go around taking aerial photos!!! Last summer I flew to California. And throughout the whole flight I was taking photos out the window of the plane. I took this one really cool photo of a neighborhood. Well, months later I looked at the photo again and realized that the neighborhood in the photo was actually MY neighborhood! I found my house in the photo and everything! I took a picture of where I lived, and I didn't even realize it!
