according to me money cannot buy you happiness. happiness is another word for "love" and i dont think there is any market place where love is for sale.you can buy 10 bmw carsgirls will always be revolving around you and saying that they love you ,but they actually love only your "money" still dont belive me let me give you an example. have you heard of the famous play "christmas carol" by william shakespear.there was a rich man named scrooge who was only interested in making money .he never gave any help to the world and wanted the world to leave him alone.his girlfriend left him because he loved his money more than her.one day he got a dream about his future that when he died no one was there to mourn his death his body was lying in his room forever ,it was then he understood that money is not everything in life. what do you think about it?

For me the answer to this question is within the following quote by Spike Milligan: "Money can’t buy you happiness… but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery." I think when we are unhappy we tend to think we need more money and material things to fill the void. And it sure does bring us TEMPORARY happiness when we are successful in this endeavor. But once it has worn off we find ourselves right back where we began with that feeling of emptiness and yearning. I also think many people would rather be unhappy and rich than unhappy and poor because when you have money it opens up more possibilities in life and a greater abundance of things to turn to during these times of distress. But is this true happiness? No, I don't think so. I think true happiness is something that doesn't come and go depending on our own personal circumstances, and the quantity of this happiness certainly cannot be dependent on wealth, success, or anything which can be measured in quantitative way. It has to come from the inside.

I like that quote, that is exactly what I meant with my post. That is the most articulate response I've seen to this discussion. That was eloquent! Thank you.

a christmas carol was written by charles dickens.. not shakespeare... but anyway.. while you cannot go into any place and find anyhting on the shelf labled "happiness".. if you didnt have a decent place to live, food to eat, and the necessities of life to sustain yerself as well as those in your family.. i dare say you wouldnt be all that "happy" and all these things cost money.. thusly, money does in fact buy some sort of happiness.

literally money cannot buy happiness. but money can help make a person happier. i read about this research where they managed to show that money can make a person happier. but to be happy you got to learn to give. it seems that most people are happier when they get a gift for a loved one. this is true for me as i am always happy when i managed to buy something for my loved ones that they like. it doesn't have to be any occasions. sometimes i see something that i think they will like and i'll just buy it. it makes me happy just by looking at the surprised look on their face. cheers :D

If something could be bought,it is said that it could be sold then. So,money can't buy everything ,especially the love .Love is a feeling of blessedness, not merchandise!

Everyone knows that money cannot buy happiness, care, and most of all love... Money is just one part that we can get to be happy since the things that we really want we can have it as long as we have money... Money is also important in our life because if we don't have money then we cannot survive especially now that all products in the market is getting higher. We need to have a lot of many in order for us to live in this world. In order for the children to study, to feed the babies, and to pay our rents and bills. Without money, then our life would not be easy and we can't be happy the way we want because we keep on thinking on how to solve it.. However, I am not declaring that money can buy happiness... Of course it can't..But money can cause us happiness sometimes because when we go to picnic, to the beach, or even to the arcade with friends, we need to have money to pay for the foods, transportations, tickets/coins, etc. Money and happiness will always bond with each other..

Yeah, the famous play you mentioned do really teach us a good lesson about true love and happiness. Money always makes man blind in many aspects. I always believe money could never be able to buy true love and real happiness. Money can buy all material items and it has its mighty power but it has its limitation. It couldn’t buy certain values like those related to loves and spiritual satisfactions. These values could only be exchanged with heart to heart. We must cherish our true love and don’t get regretted afterwards.

Money can't buy love but it sure can help find that love of your life. It is just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as it is a poor man. Maybe even easier, as he can take you to more places and he can show you a really good time. I am not saying that I would only be with a person because of his money, but what I am saying is, if he is really nice and if he is generous with his money, he can take me to places I have never been before. I have never gone out with a rich man but I would like to.

Exactly that way. If you put all your attention in money and material things you will be alone all your life with your greed.

No way can money buy you any happiness ,thats up to you,the happiness comes from you yourself, and no amount of money can do that for you.Look at all the lottery winners that have fallen by the way after winning loads of money! As long as theres enough in the pot to pay the bills and eat thats good enough for me.

Hi! Definetely money can't buy true happiness. As a poem goes ..."money can buy bed but not sleep, can buy a house but not a home,,," and so on... Money according to the Bible is the root of all evil. You can buy temporary happiness. Happiness can found within yourself...Be contented ...learn to enjoy what you see and have ...then you will find yourself not of lacking something.... Krisaea

I don't believe that money can buy happiness. I think that people are happy people whether they hae money, or not. I know of plenty of unhappy rich people who only care about getting more money, and happy not-so-rich people who are content with what they have.

I agree that money can't buy happiness. It's true that we can use money to buy things that make us happy or make us do things that make us happy but it can never buy the happiness of a person.I believe that people are the only ones who can make each other happy.

This is another one of those hard to answer questions. I mean money can be both good and bad. I mean everyone needs money to live and money can make some people happy. I guess that would all depend on who you ask.
