I am a sunblock girl. The higher the better. I am talking 45-50 or higher kiddie kind of sunblock or I burn and peel then burn some more and peel and it goes from there.

Tanning oil is very bad for your skin. Kentucky Fried People comes to mind along with melanoma. I have always used a lot of sun screen along with wearing protective cloths. People thought I was weird for wearing long sleeve shirts in the summer. But it kept the sun off me as well as the dirt. Gardening can be such a dirty job when you do it eight to twelve hours a day. We found a brand three years ago that was great. It is called something like Adblock. I am going blank right now. It was more expensive then the other brands but a little bit goes a long way. Last year it was cheaper then the other breands so we bought several bottles but they are all on my father in laws boat.

I know about the tanning oils. I used it once in my life and got beet red. Never again.

I use tanning oil with SPF protection in it so that I can get some color without burning. I use sunblock on my face because I don't want to age any quicker than necessary. I use sunblock and plenty of it on my son who received his daddy's fair skin.

I use sunblock as well, well... usually I use it. I do forget to sometimes, most the time I don't spend a whole lot of time out in the sun, but I got a pretty bad sunburn a few weeks ago while swimming several days in a row for like an hour at a time. So it's definitely smart to use sunblock, I am so pale to start with that I get very burnt. I am ok now, I am no longer bright red and I'm not peeling or having sore skin anymore. Which is a relief, but I was sore for several weeks after my burn.

I have had second degree burns from the sun, so I have to be extremely careful. I understand the pain you went through.

I have undergone 6 IPL treatments so far and it's a must for me to wear sunblock. My previous dermatologist also prescribed me their sunblock because I had facial treatments before. I cannot go out these days without applying it. Plus my friend says too much sun exposure does make one look old quickly so one has to apply sun protection.

This is very true. You can tell long time sunbathers because they have leathery wrinkled, brown skin. Yuck.

I get freckles after I get sun poisoning and not a moment before. They seem to take pleasure in popping out after the blisters are gone.
