I would say that th egg yolk came first because the egg yolk contains all the necessary substances that will form a chicken. I saw a documentary on discovery channel and according to it, life forms may have arrived from meteors because the meteors contain all the necessary elements that can form the amino acids, proteins and DNA. So does that mean that the first living thing came from space? Haha.. the thought of a chick breaking out of a meteorite is very funny

Definately its the chicken because every living being come with live not the dull stuff. God created the creature first so in that case the chicken came first and then egg coz egg needs to be hatched by the hen. So confident its the chicken came first.

i have already answered this question, but alas the world doesnt listen LOL! the EGG CAME FIRST of course! and my reason follows; the age old question is "Which came first? the chicken or the egg?" many dinosaurs laid EGGS, and dinosaurs existed BEFORE chickens..therefore eggs were in the world long before a chicken ever made its first step. the question does NOT specify that the egg is FROM THE CHICKEN..only that it is an egg. hahaha!

Clever but wrong! According to the Creator of chickens, and the author of the Record of their origins, chickens came first. It was on the Fifth Day of Creation Week that He created "every winged fowl after [their] kind" (Genesis 1:21) complete with the DNA to reproduce that kind. Then He "blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply" (v.22) using that DNA. For the chickens this meant lay chicken eggs. Problem solved. http://www.icr.org/article/3/

Hey Cinder, the world may not have listened, but I did! LOL I'm pretty sure it was your response that I saw some months ago about the chicken and the egg. And amazingly I remembered that the answer was the egg! LOL

Because it is written that God created both man and animal I'd say the chicken came first than the chicken was responsible for the egg. My opinion.

I know this one, but that is because I already heard the answer before. The answer is the egg came first. That's because it doesn't state that it is has to be a chicken egg. It could be any egg, including a dinosaur egg, which was around before the chicken!

I never knew this until cinder said, it is clever but my son says not clever enough the answer is chicken because the sentence says what came first the chicken or the egg, in that sentence chicken came first not what came first the egg or the chicken in which case it would be egg.

(Answering from email) Well, from my way of thinking I figure the Chicken came first, the reason behind that is that it says God created the animals(not the eggs of animals) so I figure it is the chicken came first. I doubt god waited around for a chicken to hatch from a egg. I could be totally in the wrong though and if I am please someone set me straight about it. Thanks.

no one has the right answer if there is even a right answer on this, it is just what you believe.

Well, to get a egg, you need a hen and a rooster. From living on a farm for 18 years of my life. You need these two, without them there won't be any eggs for scrambled eggs for breakfast. So the chicken came before the egg.

Do you honestly expect someone here in myLot to answer this age old question correctly? Still at least it is slightly better than the age old discussion topic of Pepsi or Coke preference.

Hey heather, if you look at Cinder's response (the one right above yours) you will see she has the correct answer. So it was possible to answer this age old question correctly!

I am not sure there really is a right answer, it is just how you look at life, but it is interesting to see how many people answer in which direction, creation or evolution and then the clever cinder answer.

I believe that the chicken came first. If the egg had come first, who would tend to it and take care of it after it hatched. I believe that God created full grown animals of each kind, just like he created full grown humans of each kind.

Chicken - Came First
I would like to base my answer from the bible. In Genesis, God devoted 6 days in creating light, heaven, dry land, seas, sun, moon, plants, etc... This included animals/livestocks, right? So since chickens are considered animals and there was no mention of eggs in the creation. I would think that the chicken was first.

Tough call because to have a chicken you had to have the egg for it to hatch from. But to have the egg you have to have the chicken to lay it. It's like half empty or half full? There is no real answer....just some crazy explanations people create to make others see their viewpoints!

If one beliees in creation, then the chicken came first. God didn't create Adam and Eve as babies, so why would He create the animals as babies? If one believes in evolution then the egg came first, because animals evolving from cells, had to start their lives from the very very very beginning, and this evolution took place over generations.

I think it was the chicken myself. I guess because the bible says that God made all animals and the first 2 humans in 7 days. Besides that there needs to be a chisken to sit on the eggs I think.

winterose the egg of course as chickens probably evolved from bird like dinosaurs and the egg has the dna to make the chicken so therefor eggs first.

I believe the chicken came first, because I do believe God created the Heaven and the Earth and every living thing.. I also have heard preached over the years about God creating animals, but have never heard anyone preaching about God creating eggs.. According to Genesis 1: 19 And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. 20 And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21 And God created the great sea-monsters, and every living creature that moveth, wherewith the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind: and God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.[14] That is as close as I can get to figuring it out, but I believe all of the other responses will be fun to read..

yes that is the standard creationists view, and the standard evolutionist view is the egg came first, now cinder came up with something I never heard before that was clever, and my son also came up with clever too the chicken came first based on the sentence structure, what came first the chicken or the egg, if the sentence said what came first the egg or the chicken the egg would have come first.
