Sanjayhm has a point, you need to know your boss criteria of testing. I do test software for my own needs. This depend on the type of software you are evaluating and its purpose why it was created. Let say I want to evaluate an internet browser. First, how can it be obtain? Is it easy to obtain from the sources? What possible problems will be encountered while doing it? Second, the installation part. Is it easy to install? What is the required skill to install it? Is it easy to configure? Are there any recovery plan of a failed installation? Third, usage. How is the interface? The user friendliness of the software, is it easy to use? Is it effective? Is it fast and efficient? Is it secure? Can a user customize it to suite their needs? How are errors handled? Fourth, software support. Do they have this features? Is it effective? Is the user satisfied with the support? So this are the things I would check for a browser software. But different application needs a different test case. Some go to such great details. So good luck to your test cases BeautifulArea.
