I was so surprised that last night my child suddenly told me that he would sleep alone. I don't know why he would suddenly had such an idea. He really grows up Tonight in order to encourage to sleep by himself, I told him that he did better than his father. As his father still sleeps with mother, and he couldn't sleep alone even if he is a grown up man. My trick works and tonight my child behaved well and he slept by himself again

Poor daddy has to be belittled in order to get the son to feel grown up enough to sleep alone! I wonder what goes on in your son's mind when you told him that?

I think my son really thinks that his daddy isn't good enough compare to him Perhaps one day when you have your own child, you have to be belittled like my husband At that time you know it's all worth

That is so right, I have 2 toddlers and always use their daddy as an example. I guess they believe me more than their father. hehe

Like I mentioned before. Poor daddy has to get the blame for it. So many things too. Sigh... Poor poor daddy hor?

Hello youless. It is good that your son sleeps by himself now. Is he five years now? I think that it is good for children to sleep alone when they reach a certain age. He will become more independent this way, which is good to help develop his independence. Happy parenting, youless.

Perhaps you haven't noticed that my this discussion was posted last year. The latest situation is we have to sleep with our child today. This trick doesn't work for him today And I told you in your discussion about whether you will sleep earlier in winter

That's so good. I'm still trying to figure out how to get our three year old to go to his room at night. He refuses to go even though his older brother is there for company. His older brother started sleeping alone in his own room at 18 months...but this one refuses to budge:(

A three-year-old child will listen to you without problems, but when he/she grows up, it is different. I have to say that my this trick worked last year but not today

your kids finally starting to be independent in his little ways. starting with sleeping alone. you'll surely miss those days when you need to be right by his side until he falls to sleep. those days when he can't sleep without you singing his lullaby or reading him some stories. i am not a mother yet but i learned those ideas from my mom.

Interesting development in the personality of the child. It is now at this stage the level of " self- that i can" starts growing in the minds of kids. Surely you have done a good thing, by inspiring him. This small small inspirations that we show to the kids at this stage will transform and reflect in this "MAKING OF AN INDIVIDUAL" Good job, youless.. Take care.

Well done into tricking your son into sleeping on his own again!! Growing up we never slept in our parents bed, we always had our own bed. My brothers would share a room and I would have my own room. I know some people let their children share the bed with them, even at the age of 4!! I wouldnt allow that as children need to learn to sleep on their own and have their own room. If they wake up then they will have to learn how to go back to sleep again. I know I might sound harsh but sometimes children will still be sharing the parents bed until they are 7!!

Good day... your son is growing up and getting braver to face his world. That's the first step in his independence at least the very first step and it would take years after for the second step.

How old is your son? Mine is 5 and 3 and still shares the bed with us.. and I also have a 3 month old kid. Imagine that. Five of us sharing in one bed. It's kinda hard for me because I grew up sleeping alone in a very large bed. And to make it worse the kids got their feet scratching hobbit from their dad. For them to fall asleep easily they would scratch their against mine.. 3 of them! the good thing is we have an extra sofa bed.. whenever I want to have a "me" bed I'll just doze off to the sofa bed.. and sometimes i tricked my firstborn to sleep there alone.

My child is 4 years old now. Perhaps you can think out a trick to let your elderly children to sleep alone. I think you can let the five and three years old children to have the competition to see which one is braver. Perhaps it will work.

Yes, he is growing up. Now maybe you and your husband will have some space in bed,lol...and some alone time. I dont' have any children but we have a couple of dogs who sleep with us. We actually have 4 but one sleeps in her cage and one sleeps in her doggy bed as she is too old now to be getting up and down on the bed.

Kudos to your son! My daughter is almost 3 and she still sleeps with me in my bed. She has a nice comfy Dora bed and she don't want to sleep in it. Her bed is in my room so its not like I'm a couple of doors down from her.
