Eating Slowly -- One Way to Lose Weight

August 15, 2008 5:17am CST
a growing number of studies confirm that just by eating slower, you will consume fewer calories--in fact, enough to lose 20 pound a year without doing anything different or eating anything different.the reason is that it takes about 20 minutes for our brains to register that we are full.if we eat fast,we can continue eating past the point where are full.if we eat slow,we have time to realize we are full, and stop on time.now,i would still recommend that you eat healthier food, but if you are looking to lose weight, eating slowly should be a part of your new lifesyle.

Hi! I went to my doctor once and he told me some things that signals the body that it is already full (erm, he had to lecture me because I'm obese :P But luckily, I'm not morbidly obese and have already lost around 17 lbs). One of those was chewing slowly or even not slowly but chewing the food many times. He said that when the muscles for eating is getting tired, it somehow signals the brain that the person is already full. But for me, I don't chew slowly. I love food so much that I can't bear chewing it so slow but at the same time not shove all the food in.

Since when I was child I always eat slow I even get tease with my sibling, or sometimes my Mum would tell me that I wont survive in the war! Until now I am still the same! Sometime eating outside with my family and friends makes me feel embarrased because of it! And now I heard this from you make me wonder why I never get to more than 55 kilos I am always around 50 to 51 I remember a month ago I did weight myself and it was 53 and i'm in for shock and change my eating habbit right away, and in a week time I lost 2 kilo. I have to admit that I am one of the lucky person that doesn't have to worry what to eat. Thank you so much for sharing this!
