i can see that this question elicit many interesting answers from different people with different beliefs. but you are right, this is a 'what if' question and should be answered just for the sake of discussion but with a touch of respect to those who believe in God. I remembered a certain song with this lyrics, the one by alanis. it had me thinking too when i heard that, what if He was really one of us? in my mind, he will look very ordinary, not like a king or a president with body guards. maybe he will project an image that is approachable & maybe he is going to set a good example for all His believers to follow....maybe, just maybe.

You're right Sid. Joan was the one who sang that song. I haven't heard the Alanis version, I'm not even aware if there's any.

Hi pixiedustforyou, Have you ever considered the thought that maybe we are God? There are people who believe that we are all a part of God, just as a single drop of water is part of the ocean. I am not saying that I believe that, but it is one of many options that people have. Blessings.

I am christian and this is what my religion says: God is a spirit (John 4:24), and so His appearance is not like anything we can describe. Exodus 33:20 tells us, “But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.” As sinful human beings, we are incapable of even seeing God in all His glory and living. His appearance is utterly unimaginable and too glorious to be safely perceived by sinful man. The Bible describes God appearing to people on various occasions. These should not be understood as describing exactly what God looks like, but rather as God revealing Himself to us in a way that we can understand. Two passages that powerfully describe God’s appearance are Ezekiel 1:26-28 and Revelation 1:14-16. Ezekiel 1:26-28, “Above the expanse over their heads was what looked like a throne of sapphire, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man. I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him. Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.” Revelation 1:14-16, “His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.” These passages represent Ezekiel’s and John’s best attempts at describing the glory of God that they witnessed. They had to use symbolic language and similes to describe that for which human language has no words, i.e., “what appeared like,” “like the appearance,” “he looked like,” etc. We do know that when we are in heaven, “we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:3). Sin will be no more, and we will be able to perceive God in all His glory.

Then I would not believe in such kind of a god. If God is like a grandfather in the sky with a long beard and looking down at the creation to spy on if anyone is doing wrong so that he can hit them on the head whenever they do wrong I would not believe in god at all. But the God I believe in is not like that. In fact, when some people say they are atheist and they don't believe in god, they seem to be talking about the kind of god I just describe. And I don't believe in that kind of god either. Blessings!

I would like to beleive that God would look like George Burns in the "Oh God" movie series. Glasses, flannel shirt, blue jeans, suspenders, baseball cap (or maybe a fishing hat). Someone you wouldn't look at twice on the street. Very unassuming appearance. Knowing that He has extrordinary powers, but chooses not to use them, let alone put them on display. Sorta like anyone's grandfather.

I'm a pagan, and I think it's impossible for God to be one of us. Human beings have desecrated the earth because of their selfishness and greed.

my believe, god does not have a form, he is like some sort of energy power like the sun ... but he can take any form that he created. he can be ant, can be cow, can be bumbble bee, can be horse, can be human too. when he needs to be there for the ants he will take the form of ants ... i think so. He took the form of Jesus son of God to safe the human kind ...

According to the book of Genesis in the Bible, God created us in His own image. God probably has the same features as that of a human's face. He has a pair of eyes, nose, ears, etc. I'm a firm believer of God and the best way to tell whether He exist or not, or in this case, what He looks like, is to live a good life and continue to have faith. In the end, what you want to see may be fulfilled.
