Do you doctor up your burger meat?

Last night I had the BEST burgers at a friend's house. She added minced garlic, worcestershire, seasoned salt and an egg to the burger meat. Then we cooked the burgers on low for a long time on the grill. No pressing the juices out with the spatula, either! We topped them off with blue cheese. Absolutely the best burger I've ever eaten, and very moist and tender due to the low-heat cooking. I have always put steak sauce in my hamburger meat, but will definitely try this mixture next time. So, do you add any extra stuff to your burger meat?

Yeah I like to treat my burgers like a steak, so I will doctor them babies up in a heartbeat. Onions, garlic, green peppers, salt, pepper, even a bit of soy sauce a well. I seen on a show once, that when we squeeze the burgar patty with the spatula, we are really pushing the water out of it, so I try not to smash them much either.

Firstly, I prefer pork and veal mince. In mine I add, chopped onion, chopped garlic, an egg, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, 1 tbls tomato sauce, salt..pepper and 1/4 cup of water.

I've a hard time cooking regular burgers ('cause I don't like 'em as just burger or with stuff added ONTO them) -- so 'haps I should get creative and add stuff to 'em! That sounds like a delicious mixture. Often when I'm using burger as part of a recipe I'll add egg and garlic -- and occasionally cheese. Somehow it's just different to have stuff cooked INSIDE the burger, rather than just on it =)

I refer to those as MeatLoaf Burgers. I make them sometimes. They end up being moister than a regular burger and it makes the meat go farther.

Yes, you could make burgers, meatloaf or meatballs with that same recipe.

That sounds pretty darned good I have to say. I might try that the next time I make burgers. I normally dont do anything too fancy but that sounds like it would be pretty good. It sounds like the flavors would marry together well. You could probably get the same effect if you marinated it all for awhile. I would think so anyway.

I will either put minced onion or a pack of french onion soup mix, along with steak sauce, or grill seasoning. I like my burger with lettuce tomato, and a good pickle on the side. I usually do not like ketchup on my burger. I know what you mean about slow cooking it, some people have the flame up too high, the burger turns out black and charcoaly on the outside, and raw inside
